Default Ebay SRI Review(Fujita knock offs)

UPDATE
after accidentally running into Fujita intakes on youtube for the G37, I have realised these are Fujita knock offs and ironically enough, they have the same problems as Fujita intakes(heat soak XD)

I know what people are going to say, "ricer", "why would you buy an ebay intake", "you're gonna blow your motor", ect. ect.

I dont care, got nothing nice to say, dont say it, the intakes were a gift from my mother, i spent NOTHING on this mod and i made sure to be careful about using these intakes because ID is not the same as stock so i have been using an app called TORQUE pro for android to monitor AFRs and IATs and so far from what i have seen, i am safe, my AFRs are 12.5-12.7 and IATs are 10-20 above ambient temps when moving(sitting will cause heat soak)

Shipping & packaging:
everything was packaged very nicely, clean, well packed and very easy to identify what is what
I received these intakes literally 1 day after my mother placed the order since they were a local socal company(same day my CSC went out)
although it did not come with heat shields, i feel they are not too necessary since IATs go down when moving
photos of packaging

Quality:
Honestly this is where I was really impressed, all the welds were tig welded(very clean looked nothing like mig welds), pipes were made of aluminium but it was not flimsy at all, really nicely made, thick but not too thick
Filters felt like some of the other dry filters I have seen before at autoparts stores, I am not sure about how well it filters but it didnt really show any light when i held it up to a light, I will check how well these filter out dust and dirt after 200miles or so and if it is letting dirt in, I'll swap for K&N filters
The silicone couplers felt like they were alright quality wise, nothing special, about the same as some of the intercooler couplers I have on my turbo eclipse

I mocked the intakes up when I got them since my car was at the dealer getting the CSC repaired

Fitment:
This is where Ebay stuff is hit or miss, but from what I have read about name brand short ram intakes people had problems installing as well
I would give this a 7/10 for fitment since everything did fit, but it took a bit of effort to get it in right
The vacuum lines they gave me were a bit too long for the install and were very thick(thicker than any vacuum lines I have ever seen before) so i ended up using the stock line for the passenger side intake and i rigged up their vacuum line combined with the stock line since their line was too hard to bend and the stock line was way too short, I might get longer lines at autozone and replace my jerry rigged setup but right now it works and I have no vacuum leaks

Install took about 2 hours, 1 hour to get the stock stuff out, and another hour to get the intakes in, I did not remove the strut tower bar over the engine, I felt it wasnt necessary, the intakes also came with some anti vibration holders but I was missing a bolt so all i really did was tighten down the silicone couplers really tight and the intakes didnt move around so I didn't even bother with those.

How it feels:

These intakes FEEL AMAZING, the car gets up and goes, I no longer have to downshift to pass people up on the highway(it will shoot from 65-100 in no time XD) and throttle response is even better then stock intakes with drop-ins(I think half is the intake, the other half is the lightweight flywheel)
There is definitely some power pick up from what I can feel, but I wouldn't know for sure unless I dyno

Over all though for something that cost me nothing(the intakes cost 129.99 though from ebay), I couldn't be happier with the intake and even if I paid for it, replaced the filters with name brand ones, and bought new vacuum lines, it would cost me much less than buying name brand ones

I considered getting this for my car too but I am leaning towards K&N drop ins to save money. Thanks for the write up and review. I'm tempted to buy them now.

no problem, for the price i definitely recommend them since it costs so little to purchase

I had K&N Drop-ins with my stock intakes and there is a slight difference with throttle response when compared to the stock paper filters but honestly it won't be as great as an aftermarket intake(and that is speaking for any intake)

Honestly, this setup compared to K&N Drop-ins+HPS Post MAF Tubes(or any post maf tube) will cost you about the same if you got a name brand filter with these pipes, I'm not so sure about gains with this setup since I have not dyno'd my car with stock+Drop-ins vs these but i can say there are some definite gains with these

IF your going to buy a CAI at least get a quality American made brand or quality import.

The cheap ebay systems are usually cheaply made with rubber that falls apart or cracks or is eaten up by gas or solvents etc.

Air filter is a poor design and often with a paper element compared to a K/N .

Also aluminum is a really cheap cast alloy made from recycled alloy and it will fracture and break at the brackets and stress points.

Alloy is often not anodized and is simply painted, if it is anodized it will fade in a few weeks.

While I don't believe in the aftermarket CAI , don't waste your money and put cheap Chinese parts on your cars.

Well I can tell you its painted and not anodized and the only thing I'm iffy on is the filter and in case you didn't read the first few lines, I didn't spend a dime on this, it was a gift so really even if I have to replace a few stuff, I'm still gonna be saving money compared to any name brand intake system.

Honestly, the intake piping is really good and IMO that is probably worth the 129.99, the rest you can swap out for name brand parts like K&N cone filters, name brand couplers, ect.

WRONG

If you have data that proves my data otherwise, please post it.

Yes it gets hot when sitting, but it cools down to 10-15 above ambient temps when moving, in fact its the same as the stock air boxes from what I have gathered.

Plenty of Data to Prove it. I am not knocking your eBay Buy. I am all about saving money as well.
But Lower Air Intake Temps allows for More aggressive timing equaling more Hp/Tq.
If you use a ODB Scanner with the intakes and view the Air Intake Temps with the Filters in the engine bay Vs. ones that are out side the engine Bay the temp drop 25 + degrees.

Never the less they do look nice.

well of course lower IATs are better and LTI will always have lower IATs then short rams when sitting but when moving the short rams will cool off

your post seemed like one of those troll SRI posts so I apologise if it seemed like i was snapping or something

i still say stick with the OEM cold air intake.

just drove this right now. google says it's 66 degrees out. my air intake temp is only 2 degrees F above ambient, 20 degrees Celsius.

you can almost buy test pipes for how much your intake was.

the best i have ever gotten with stock boxes and these is 10 above ambient, usually i sit anywhere from 10-25 above ambient when moving, sitting at lights i was always 40-50 above ambient(both these and stock boxes, with boxes though, it takes a little longer to get heat soaked, these on the other hand, you can see the intake temps rise quickly XD)

i thought about getting test pipes but i didnt want to have to get under the car and remove them and put on stock cats when smog time comes around

"ricer", "you're gonna blow your motor"... j/k
I can't speak for the quality, but they actually look good in that engine bay. Only thing I would have gone long tubes, but that's just me
Question: how is the sound?

I proved years ago SRI lose power when put under a hot condition. Marginal lose, but you continue to heat up the engine bay it will get worse.
Red is 100% OEM (245.4HP) v Blue is Takeda SRI (243.1HP)
