There are many cat backs available for the 370z that require that box to be removed, those companies were not on my list when i was deciding which exhaust i wanted( the other two were mines' and Amuse, tanabe was perfect for me). To the OP, according to Ziggyman, the box doesn't need to be removed. Also, Magnaflow should be able to tell you OP!
