My Tuner is telling me he cant get over 300 whp out of my 2013 370z, how did you manage to get 321 whp

Eighties Meta 08-31-2013 11:49 PM

What dyno. Were you dyno'd on a mustang dyno? At least on dynojets a few boltons will have you at or over 300whp.

I have 322 at the speed limiter without a tune, and the EXACT mods as you

Think I'm gonna end up just putting nitrous on this thing too and call it a day.

It is not unusual to have rasp from the stock exhaust or Stillen when test pipes are installed.

Arts pipes fight the rasp...I think many of you are hearing the vq hiss...YouTube it...

Also, god knows what tricky shít Z1 has done with their dyno or whatnot, (I don't mean to discredit them, just sayin'), but take it with a grain of salt... Also rear wheel weights will effect WHP numbers. So keep that in mind.

Z1 dyno reads as close to real world as you can get,my cars have been on that dyno several times and I have been right there when John is doing it there is no FUNNY business going on.

I'm not discrediting you I'm just saying you should'nt be saying!!!

Come to znats and maybe you can find out. I have the power mod done as well and enjoy the results it provided ....

Nice Jon. I believe the type of exhaust you have makes the biggest difference in getting the 330+ area. Plus a little bit of weather.

They bore/sand out the intake manifold

Actually they don't

;-(

I was told that's what they do.

And regarding my statement about their dyno, half was their "Z1 power mod" if they aren't telling people what it is, then comparing their dyno results to anyone else's is a waste of time.

1-ish for 2-ish

370Z JT 09-14-2013 03:25 PM

Even a Nismo can't come close to Mikes numbers. Yikes.

brucelidat 09-14-2013 03:27 PM

I agree that if Z1 is listing a 'power mod', they need to tell us what is is and have it available, because otherwise, their dyno results for these headers can't really be compared to others.

What good is a Nismo on a dyno when they're retuning it and all the mods that make a Nismo a Nismo are changed in some way

370Z JT 09-14-2013 03:30 PM

Good point. Haha

Mike's car is like mine extremely fine tuned with a lot of extra attention where as the regular cust gets a good tune but no tuner can spend that kind of time with 1 car.

It is nothing you add to the car it is something you modify on it,and Z1 stumbled upon it.

370Z JT 09-14-2013 03:39 PM

Sounds like its a "free" mod that can be done easily.

brucelidat 09-14-2013 03:39 PM

So basically, we won't be able to replicate their results without having them do the tune is what you're saying. Then to really get an idea of what the rest of us might expect from these headers, we definitely need some before and afters by people who don't get it done through z1.

Not disagreeing with you, just saying what makes a Nismo a Nismo after the exhaust is the tune, in which both are changed and other things added, so the statement of "even a Nismo can't touch Mike's numbers" doesn't mean jack

2sl0w 09-14-2013 03:54 PM

Z1 does make the power mod available. I think its cool they provide a service for customers who are tuned at their location and it doesn't hurt that it is a viable mod for power. We have a mass produced engine. Some run Bette than others... I think mike got a great motor and his car can put the power down. Lightweight wheels etc.

But the mod isn't free, and why limit your clients to the people that live within 500 miles from you?

I just talked to Chuck and he's gonna call me back to see if they can do it for me

If you take the part off the car and send it to them I'm sure they will do it,it doesn't take that long.

I offered, if it is an intake manifold mod, I have a spare that I can send out

No it's not.I know what it is but I haven't gotten around to doing it on my car.

brucelidat 09-14-2013 04:27 PM

Well, it seems like the Georgia members have an advantage then on the rest of us since I talked to them and it's only something they can do at their shop and he would not disclose to em what it was either, haha.

mag_black 09-14-2013 10:10 PM

Let's not forget that we're probably looking at STD numbers, so the numbers are going to show as higher. About 4%?

STD:
Air Temperature: 60F
Absolute Pressure: 29.92 inches Hg
Relative Humidity: 0%

SAE:
Air Temperature: 77F
Absolute Pressure: 29.23 inches Hg
Relative Humidity: 0%

SPOHN 09-15-2013 09:47 AM

I do know a lot of shops use a 350z lower manifold. That's one thing.

Now Z1 will not tell anyone anything about this there personal mod. So months ago I decided to find out. After many talks to other shops and research it came down to ONE of TWO things or BOTH. As I said before the 350Z lower intake manifold is one. I did learn that Z1 only charges for labor for there mod. So that got me thinking. Do they swap the 370Z LM for the
350Z LM with a even core charge? Maybe that's one of two. But after discussion with many shops and researching all NA mods along with FI mods that deal with vacuum/ pressure it comes to my conclusion that the PCV valve check valve is being bored out and when combined with a tune the extra power is extracted. Tell me I'm wrong?

Megan370z 09-15-2013 10:06 AM

I wouldnt be surprised after I showed the big miss allignment of the the lower intake manifold to the upper plenum (plastic IM.) That they did the test and there was gain on that . This is possibly one of their *secret mod* who knows untill they disclosure it.

The pcv valve is plausible as I heard the same previously on other platform.

They probably use the 350z lower manifold to use the HR intake manifold. This is to avoid to purchase the M370 of motordyne.

Baer, you're killing us! haha. Close as in that's the part they mod plus something else or close a sin the same idea but on a different part that is related? Give us some more hints, man! I feel like Z1 has their customers sign a NDA, lol. If they tell, they will be forced to trade their Zs in for Priuses

SPOHN 09-15-2013 03:22 PM

I just told you guys. This is why everyday I'm so close to being done with this site. You don't listen and when you do you question that. Geez. So blind to see the games that are played. Matter fact I lied to throw you away for the truth. Baer and I are in a conspiracy.
