Well got her installed today, CBE w/12 inch res. As soon as the car started I noticed a huge difference, nice growl to it. This exhaust really wakes up the beaZt, Im not going to do the long review as I would say the same as the others. If you want to hear your exhaust this is the one and it does sound exotic. Turns lots of heads on the road when you pass them. Matt had found a great place for the install, only $100 for the whole thing. Now my exhaust stands out with the stangs and other big V8s. Thanks Tony.

I was there when it got installed. Sounds awesome in person...Youtube does it little justice.

Makes me seriously contemplate upgrading my Nismo CBE to the FI CBE.

Props to Tony and FI

I have to say I was absolutely THRILLED with Tony and the whole experience. Tony installed a SS system, HF Cats and my Stillen extra long tube set up. Even offered to help with the new hood but I have that covered.

He took me through the care, the install and was truly a great guy to work with. I've only had the car back for a day and a half but the power gain is awesome! Back end breaks loose all the time, has a very deep yet "Z" sound and I just love it!

Showed it off to my employees today and they wouldn't stop talking about it. Car is SO much fun to drive, looks clean as can be and can't say enough.

Spent a good hour or so shooting the Sh@# with Tony and I'm 100% certain I'll see him again for perhaps some headers or....

Thanks again buddy, really my pleasure meeting you and someone that is so passionate about their work! Keep it up and talk to you soon...Adam.

G37Sam 11-25-2009 01:34 AM

Tony any word on the long tubes? :D

motoextreme 11-25-2009 01:35 AM

PS. Tony, came home to a bunch more boxes today. All the little carbon pcs to replace the stock ones, Shifter, and the new taillights. Just need to find the time to put it all together, car is looking awesome...feel like a kid in a candy store! Can't wait to put this hood on this weekend, debating whether I should paint it first though....we'll see. I'll stop by one day when she's all together.

My thought, don't paint it. Bare Carbon Fiber looks incredible on a silver car. Not to mention it is a Nismo!

Adam,

It was a pleasure to serve you. We are very pleased that you are enjoying the exhaust. It looks great on your car and sounds even better. Please do not hesitate to ask if you ever need anything...

Thank you, Tony

Tony, dont forget to let me know when you get that exhaust manifold buttoned up. Looking forward to adding that to my list of mods! Everyone so far that has seen my car loves the exhaust, met up with Dave (great guy) and I kid you not I ran into a 350Z at Arby's, guy is buying a 370 in the next couple of weeks and seeing you shortly after, I gave him one of your cards.

Good luck man, keep it up!

Just had my F.I. CBE with 18" resonators installed. The video clips don't do the sound justice. Sounds awesome. It growls nicely when you hit the throttle on acceleration. Cruising on the highway it is almost stock quiet and there is no drone. The only drone sound I heard is when your at the 2.5 to 3k rpm range in too high of a gear for the speed, but nothing to complain about.

I had a grin on my face all the way back to the house. Tony did a great job with the install. Made sure the fitment was perfect. Full of info, and all around great to deal with.

These guys are a hard working bunch, and I highly recommend dealing with them. If anyone is in the LA area and would like to hear how the exhaust sounds before you buy, let me know. I'd love to have an excuse to show it off!

Hey Tony, I'm still waiting for the 18" resonators. I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make. With the cold weather around, the exhaust is so much louder. It even trips my dad's car alarm in the morning!

I wonder if I should switch to stock cats as well.

jmlenz 12-01-2009 06:45 PM

^^^ Digi did you go with straight pipes or 12" resonators?

kdo2milger 12-01-2009 06:50 PM

1500 miles later it seems that the cbe is finally breaking in...

it seems to have gotten a little more growl to it now...

12" resonators... I think the HFC adds to the loudness factor as well. I really like the sound and grunt, but it's just too loud [for me].

My gf hates my car now and refuses to let me take it out. It is also a bit embarrassing to start my car up at work because people in the office and meeting rooms can hear it, and it interrupts any sort of conversation in the parking lot. It is starting to trip my dad's car alarm now, so the exhaust is definitely getting too loud.

So... I need to make it quieter.

PM'd

[EDIT] As suggested by racerxj17, going back to stock HFCs should make it quieter with minimal downtime.

darkROAM_1 12-02-2009 07:35 AM

Meh I ordered non-resonated w/ CF mufflers. People can complain about noise all they want but in the end, why get an exhaust and think it will be super quiet? Maybe get some baffles fitted for daily driving if that's the case?

I have no problem w/ louder than stock exhausts. I would run turn downs if I could just wouldn't sound like the 69 Stang though LOL.

DIGItonium 12-02-2009 09:00 AM

^ Well here's the thing. The stock exhaust note is considered super quiet compared to the 350Z. There's no doubt that I like the sound of the F.I. exhaust, but the drone around 2-3k RPM is my biggest issue as a daily driver. It is loud enough to drown out music and phone conversations (handsfree). Outside of this range, the sound is phenomenal and nowhere near as loud even at 7,500 RPM.

In an effort to reduce the dB in the 2-3k RPM range, I will switch to the stock cats. Hopefully that's enough.

Scribe 12-02-2009 09:14 AM

In the interest of those interested... :)

Tony,

Would it be at all possible for you to grab a decibel meter and give the community the results of various configurations vs stock. I think that would help inform your buyers, resulting in even higher satisfaction. I believe you can get one at Radio Shack if you don't already have one. As a marketing tool, I believe this is a great idea and other manufacturers have been doing this for years since there are strict laws in some areas.

Thanks again for all your hard work in satisfying the pickiest of car communities. :tiphat:

darkROAM_1 12-02-2009 12:51 PM

Then again, it's not entirely impossible for those areas to go t oa shop or for F.I. to introduce something like these to their exhausts for daily usage.

http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/images/bung.gif

I had one like that on my old Talon when I was running around the street and almost never heard it.

Im not sure maybe your car is different but i have no resonators and can carry a conversation in the car no problem.. even now with my non resonated test pipes i can carry a conversation in the car you just cant be flooring it and expect to carry a conversation need to know how to modulate the gas pedal. I talk to people on my built in bluetooth just fine as well..

Modulating is easy and fairly quiet while cruising at freeway speeds, but when the road slopes upward the droning sound gets pretty loud. In city streets, it gets too loud when I try to accelerate to 40mph. It is loud enough to rattle the interior.

What's really strange is that sometimes the exhaust sound is very civil and not even that loud even in the same rev range. For example, on the way to lunch the exhaust sounds really nice and smooth. I'm even able to listen to music while accelerating. On the way back, it gets very loud and sometimes raspy. My coworkers wonder about the same thing. I'm not sure why or how that happens.

EGT heat must be effecting it?

My exhaust on my tC in the morning is nice and loud, from the cold start. But later in the day after its warmed up, its back to the smooth purr.

I do know what the laws are from state to state. We are located in California so I put that disclaimer on there to cover us. Esecially due to the fact that I know they are not legal for highway use in California What you do with them once they are in your hands is not on us specifically if you are not in California.
