Tony, I'm installing mine on Friday (12-10-09) at 10:30am, so far the exhaust looks beautiful, nice soild pieces and the carbon is really nicely done. I like the "Fast Intentions" on the tips as it adds even more great detail. I just wanted to give you an update, and I'll write a performance review tomorrow whenever I get home. Thank you again Tony, I'm looking foward to the headers & and doing business with your great company in the near future.

Thank you for the positive feedback. Enjoy the exhaust and if you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to ask...

Thank you, Tony

NewYorkJon34 12-11-2009 09:20 PM

Tony, you can mark me down as "Installed" im not sure if it's included but only 2 new gaskets were included and I had to use the old ones too. I've noticed the throttle response has def improved, and about the sound, it sounds really good & I know I bought the 18" resonators, but my questions to you are: will buying your upcoming Headers add more of the low, loud, & angry sound I'm looking for? And I heard the exhaust will quiet down alil (I hope not, lol) is that true?

I doubt the LTH's will alter the sound that much to give you a deeper exhaust note. I would try HFC or test pipes. to be quite honest thos 18" resonators are killing the note your looking for.. I have no resonators and with stock cats the exhaust was VERY deep especially low rpm.. high rpm its very race like.

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 10:58 AM

Well it could just be that the stock cats are killing some of the sound too right? I bought the 18" cus it's what Tony recommends if the stock cats are off the car, which they will be when I buy the headers, or am I wrong?

Yes, you are correct. The stock cats are minimizing the sound and once you decide to either install our long tube headers or go another route, the exhaust will wake up.

I am glad your exhaust is too quiet opposed to being too loud. It is always easier the make it louder Than make it quieter.

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 11:57 AM

Tony u have been real great to me, and I appreciate it. But I am pretty confused, I don't know if the headers will fix my problem, or if I should just swap out the 18" for the 12", I hate too be a pain, I love the exhaust but too me it sounds like it's kinda "missing" something. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Darkstar87695 12-12-2009 01:01 PM

Thans Tony! i got your email and i loo forward to getting the exhaust. I don tmind he wait and its been a pleasure! i will le you know when i get it in the mail.

V8KILR 12-12-2009 01:39 PM

I'm up next!!!

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 01:53 PM

Tony, how much more louder is the 12" vs. The 18" that I have? It would be easy to replace right, all it is, is replacing the "X" pipe section with the 12" right? I figured I am prob going to order your headers as soon as they are released first, that way I can see how loud it is & and if I want it louder I hope you & I can set something up. :)

The biggest difference is the interior noise is louder with the 12". I have no doubt in my mind that it will be loud enough for you with the headers. The reason why I recommended the 18" is because anytime a customer tells me they want it on the quieter side, this is what I tell them to go with.

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 06:15 PM

Thanks Tony, I was really having second thoughts about maybe I should have bought the 12", but if you say it will be loud but still retain the great sound of the F.I. Exhaust, then Ill be happy.

It will retain the note without a doubt.

In a way, I am glad that your exhaust is too quiet for you. It goes to show you all that sound is subjective and what may be loud for one may be quiet for the next!

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 07:31 PM

Just in case If after the headers, would it be a pain to switch to the 12" resonators? It's just switching the "X" pipe right?

G37Sam 12-12-2009 07:36 PM

Nope, you'll be switching the midpipes coz those are the resonated ones

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 07:41 PM

Oh, so I don't think it would be hard at all to replace then if I wanted. So pretty much all the exhausts are the same except for the 2 smaller pipes which have the resonators in them, right?

there all the same X-pipe... just there's a 12" or a 18" resonator option welded right in...

G37Sam 12-12-2009 07:52 PM

Nope it's quite easy

I mean you do have different muffler options (CF, Stainless Steel, Round, Oval shaped etc..) but pretty much all FI exhausts on the 370Z simply come down to

X-pipe + Midpipe + Mufflers & Tips

You can switch out the midpipes to whatever resonator setup you're looking for

nogoodname 12-12-2009 07:55 PM

Sam, i think he gets it now...lol

G37Sam 12-12-2009 08:08 PM

Hoping :D

theDreamer 12-12-2009 08:10 PM

Will have to fight a few people for 001, I am sure the list will hit 10 (probably even 20) in the first few hours.

nogoodname 12-12-2009 08:10 PM

you'd be bursting the hears of those camels man...... think of the animals foo

the pipes look so long that resonators could fit nicely...... do these headers have to be wrapped??

Exactly, it bolts right in and will swap out in 20 minutes or so, once the car is in the air and cooled down of course.

I have heard of an ear, but what is a hear? :ugh2:

motoextreme 12-12-2009 09:27 PM

First off, Tony...thanks for hanging out today, always a pleasure talking to you man, I consider myself pretty motor sauvy but you my man are an expert, really know your sh#$.

I would just like to say the HF definitely makes it sound awesome! I was a little concerned with the interior noise at first but I'm used to it now. Tony really woke my car up and I just adore it ever since. Hell, I climbed under my car and dried off the mufflers when I got home from the meet....thats love!

Hey Tony, so I was reading some other posts about exhausts and stuff like that. I know I'll get hell for sacrificing power for looks but if you ever get to the point where you are bored, I'd really like you to help make a system that exits in a different way...I don't know where but maybe higher in the bumper like an exotic or something really custom. I know I may lose a few HP but we'll make it up with turbo's down the road when I save up some $$. Have to feed the kids first

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 10:02 PM

I'd really like to be in the top 10 for the headers, I'm really looking foward to the day I get to order them, hopefully they will be less then a grand.

motoextreme 12-12-2009 10:16 PM

I'd have to think that install would be a bit#$...

Probably spend whatever the header costs in labor to put it in. That's one tight squeeze!

Not to say I wouldnt sign up though if there were indeed gains.

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 10:32 PM

How long do you estamite it would take to install the headers?

motoextreme 12-12-2009 10:48 PM

I've asked a couple shops already just fishing around... One said 8 hours, another said 7. Some shops are 80-100 an hour (not sure about East coast). Its pricey but a big job and without a lift I doubt most of us could do it ourselves.

JakeZ34 12-12-2009 10:59 PM

Tony you really impressed me today. After hearing Adam's exhaust in person I have decided to go with you guys. No doubt. And I am definitely waiting for your economical and efficient turbo kit :D

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 11:04 PM

^Dang it sounds like a really big job, I know the stillen headers are short but does it take about 7 hours to install those? I don't even wanna think what Nissan would charge, lol

motoextreme 12-12-2009 11:04 PM

DO IT BRO!! Come work for me for a little while and I'll help you get the $$ together. Tell you what, move to NC for a few months and help me out and I'll really make it worth your while. I need help in NC big time!!!!

NewYorkJon34 12-12-2009 11:47 PM

I better start checking around for install prices. Hey Tony any new info about the headers?

I was great seeing all of you yesterday, even in the rain! THe car looks good, all the cars looked good. I am willing to try some different things for the exhaust and as far as the twin turbo thing goes, I think we can work something out for the prototype.
