Thanks! :tiphat: The install was so straightforward, and the tips lined up perfectly. This was true even though the car was not level in the air (front tires 3" off the ground, rear wheels 7 or 8" off the ground). I used the temporary shim technique the Tony recommends (put a .25" spacer between the X pipe section and the cross brace) while I was getting everything in and tightened, and the tips ended up perfectly placed and aligned.

So you agree now that the bending of the heatshield was nothing to worry about?

The malibu one we went to is supposed to be a monthly. Next one should be on the 16th.

Yes sir, next one is the 16th. I really need to hear these FI exhausts in person at the next meet, I am trying to decide on going with Fast Intentions or going with the Tanabe since I already have their Y pipe.

Yes, it required only a very sllight bend. And it was very obvious once I got under the car.

So what's become of the 200 or so stock exhaust systems floating around now thanks to Tony?

Hey Tony, have other's noticed a significant increase in throttle response after installing your CBE? I have, and it is great! I'm not talking about the boost of the added HP, but a quicker, smoother response when you hit the throttle.

Thats the first thing I said, the car seems much more responsive.

UPDATE- 10/04/2010

A price increase will take effect shortly. This will only pertain to the (Carbon Fiber mufflers)! As of today aside of what I already have sold and pending shipment, we only have enough (Carbon Fiber mufflers) left for (3) more systems. Now we are currently working with our manufacturer to have another 100 mufflers run off. I should have them by the end of October. However, it has been a long time since we have had these made. We had 500 made years ago and between all of the Nissan/Infiniti models, our inventory is just about used up. The bottom line is our manufacturer is raising the price on us!

In addition to that, I feel that I have kept the price of the (Carbon Fiber) very low over this past year. Right now the upgrade to (Carbon Fiber) is $175 for all of you. After these (3) systems are sold the new upgrade price will be $300. In the end it is only an additional $125 and I feel the price is still fair for what you are going to get. After all, we are the only ones who offer (Carbon Fiber mufflers) for your car. If you are on the fence and want the (Carbon Fiber) than make sure you get the current pricing.

The quality of the new inventory will be identical to the current mufflers. If anyone has any questions or would like to place an order, please do not hesitate to call me at the number below...

Thank you, Tony

NOTE: This is also posted on the first page of this thread as well as the sale thread in the vendor classified section.

:rofl2: Yeah, I hear you on that. From a cold start it ROARS to life, but quickly quiets down after about 15 seconds... after 30 seconds its no different than stock... It's actually QUIETER than an HFC/CBE setup @ idle.

As soon as I get my GoPro, I will be making a full up review complete w. install pics and videos of all aspects of driving.

It's quieter than HFC's at idle, ask Triple's if you don't believe me lol

@ 2k rpms you can feel the power as you go through the band, but that's typical for harmonic resonance. But there is no 'drone' associated with it.

I drove from LA to Phoenix with the windows down in both auto and manual modes, and there was nothing audible, I even turned my stereo off just to hear the exhaust. While commuting through the city immediately after install when it's at its loudest pre-breakin, Trips and I were still able to carry on a normal conversation inside. It's no different than any other aftermarket setup... It only comes to life when you get on it, like it's supposed to.

I will have a full up review soon, I just need to get vids so I have audio/visual to back this up.

Jquad 10-05-2010 02:08 AM

spearfish25 10-05-2010 06:01 AM

Have you guys noticed all the used FI exhausts in the Parts For Sale forum? Why wait for a new one?

ProfessorDave 10-05-2010 07:17 AM

Threw a code this morning. Hoping it is not an evap leak related to my putting heat wrap on the lines (although I did that 3 days ago) as part of the CBE install. My old OBDII Peake scanner does not work on the Z, so I'll have to try Pep Boys later for a new one or a scan. I'll keep you posted...

Damn, & here I thought there was drone. Then again that's only from a small grp that has this exhaust and those only have the CBE. Not the headers w/ it. I'm re-thinkin my plans. Lookin forward to your write-up.

You have to remember though sound is subjective... It's based on what the person wants. What might sound good to someone, might not sound the same to someone else based on what they want... What some of us call 'exotic rumble' others call drone... But as far as I'm concerned there is no sound that can be called a 'drone'. At any highway speed, 45,55,65,75,85,95... lol

ProfessorDave 10-05-2010 11:48 AM

Code P0300 Randon/Multiple Cylinder misfire. Could this be related to the exhaust install, or perhaps the fact that it was a cold, rainy morning when the SES light came on? I'll probably post on the more general engive/drivetrain section, but wondered if anyone else encountered this code after a CBE install.

I erased the code, and no light upon first start up.

I highly doubt that swapping an exhaust would have any effect on the inner workings of the Cylinder's... So prolly completely unrelated, and if it doesn't get thrown again, then you should be fine.

ProfessorDave 10-05-2010 12:01 PM

Apparently (if what I'm reading is correct) exhaust valves and faulty cats can cause this code. In additional to a whole bunch of other crap!

I am glad it wasn't the evap leak code...I didn't want to face a dealer with that given the exhaust mod/removal of evap canister cover.

Weird. I have never had a problem like this after doing an exhaust.
