I saw an optional carbon fiber. Is it anything to do with sound? or just better looking?

dlmartin81 07-02-2010 11:09 AM

^^ Both....sound and aesthetics

just a sound or power to?

Sound is the only difference between the two. The power is the same regardless.

Hrmm... I am wondering if maybe something didnt tighten all the way, around 4K+ there is a little rasp and I dont think its normal.

meh, I dont think the 12" would contribute entirely though.

I bet you it's jut the HFCs. They introduce rasp. The only way to avoid it is to keep the stock cats, even then there is a slight hint of rasp. It's the nature of the car unfortunately.

18" resonators would help with it, though.

red6spd 07-04-2010 02:15 PM

I ordered my cat-back with No Resonaters and plan on going with straight pipe test pipes. Hello Rasp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats what Im going for as well. I think if you have that mindset going in then that you want loud it wont be a problem.

The problem is people modding their cars and expecting it to be perfect to their tastes, not to loud, not to raspy but still get great gains.

dlmartin81 07-04-2010 10:21 PM

I installed mine this past Friday. Unbelievable quality AND sound! The wife likes it too. She loves how it purrs, and I have to agree. I think it's one of the smoothest sounding CBE I have heard. I have the 18-R. It's not loud at all when just cruising but once you get on it, it comes to life....and even then, it's not overwhelmingly loud...huge plus.

I'm still kind of considering the RHFC. It would be the quietest option and would produce the least amount of rasp but I'm just not sure how much more volume and drone it would produce. I don't want it to be too much louder than what I currently have. I love the current sound!

I know Majestik.. ordered the RHFC. I guess I'll wait to read his review and maybe hear a couple vids.......hint...hint.

I'll post some pics tomorrow after a wash.

Tony, thanks for such an awesome product!

jnaut 07-04-2010 10:25 PM

NewYorkJon34 07-04-2010 10:49 PM

Which one did you end up going with Jnaut?, You did get the chance to see the 12"/hfc & 18" in person at the SFZCC meet.

docaam 07-05-2010 02:52 AM

cubarican84 07-05-2010 09:36 PM

Perfect Perfect Perfect

I received, installed, and have been loving my FI CBE SSmuffs 18"res exhaust! I deleted the cats and installed the CNT RES Test Pipes at the same time. WOA! WOW! and DAmn she sounds mean. I'm glad to have gone with the 18" resonators because when combined with the cat delete the exhaust sounds ridiculously deep. The fitment was unbelievable. I didn't have to adjust with washers or anything. Tony your products are insane and you have one satisfied customer in me. Your willingness to answer any questions I had, and me changing my order back and forth prove why you're one of the best in the industry. Keep it up. Thanks for a great product. I still want those FI LTHs;)... but they'll come later.

cubarican84 07-05-2010 09:37 PM

I got co carried away commenting Tony that i forgot to mention Nissangeneration and they're excellent service as well. I placed and recieved my order 3 days from when i paid thru paypal. Awesome! The CNT test pipes fit perfectly and were a match made in heaven with the FI's exhaust. The quality of the pipes were definitely not on par with fast intentions, but still a great deal for the price. I have no regrets and like i said the fitment was perfect. It took me about 5.5 hours to complete the install. I took my time with the demon bolt and the cat removal was the most challenging of everything. PB BLASTER AND THE RIGHT TOOLS MADE THE DEMON BOLT MY BITCH!. LOL. Oh and I wouldn't do the install without a lift. OK. y'all take care. I'm a go drive the beast thats sitting in my driveway. :driving::driving:

Jnaut, do you have any sound clips of your exhaust with the 18" resonated CF mufflers and the longtubes? I've been trying to find a clip of this setup for some time but no luck so far. Thanks!

This must just be because of the mic quality but it kinda sounds like the car is farting...constantly

'10Anamoly 07-09-2010 08:42 AM

That is definately mic distortion (or a day after a chili binge). Somebody lend this guy a proper camera so we can hear the real sound!
