CF is a good choice. i have CF non res and non res test pipes and i get soooo many compliments and jaw drops when people see the CF cans. most people absolutely love the CF cans.

The Dimer 06-11-2012 09:45 AM

I was on the fence about the CF too. Ultimately I decided that if I didn't get them I would still love the exhaust, but I would regret not getting them. I know it makes the exhaust more expensive, but I figured I was only going to buy one exhaust for this car so I might as well go all out.

the extra $250 for the CF is well worth it for the looks and sound.

speedfreek 06-11-2012 11:36 AM

How does the sound change with with CF can compared to just the SS?

CF isn't as resistant as the SS cans, so more volume will make it through. Also the note of the exhaust will change slightly to a higher 'more exotic' pitch.

A similar but more pronounced effect will happen when you pair them with the headers.

well said chris lol i was just about to type the same thing but saw you beat me to it.

having the CF cans and knowing how amazing the sound it i wouldnt want SS cans at all. not saying they arent amazing as well just my personal preference is now changed to CF over SS. All F.I. products are the best around hands down.

I currently have the SS cans, and had an unfortunate event happen to one of them. So when it comes time to get it fixed, I'm on the fence if I'll order another SS can, or just get 2 new CF cans...

I'm leaning to CF.. :yum:

i'd say CF would be a good choice plus a nice change of pace from a sound standpoint. i will say i was sad yesterday when cleaning my CF cans i got a little nick in the front of the right can at the "low" point. i guess after 5k miles on them i finally went over something that was too tall or a rock might have done it since it is a small nick.

Thats my only worry is that the CF is more delicate than the SS ones. You can get away with a bit more road rash. But the look and sound of the CF can't be denied. Plus I have mag black so yeah... :yum:

honestly i think the Cf holds up well. i installed mine last october and ihave 5k miles on them and they look like new except for the new little nick. i'll take a pic after work and show you they look like they are fresh out the box. which is amazing to me after sooooo many miles lol Tony make a awesome product.

also black CF cans under abby will look sick. i love the look under mine since the CF stands out from the blue so u def see them lol

Puma0183 06-11-2012 12:06 PM

hi everybody *dr hibberts voice*

im new to this site, i just put my order in for a Fast Intentions CBE non resonated plus non resonated test pipes. I want to know if its too much from people that have this set up or is it just right? or should i add the 12" resonators. videos on Youtube dont quite sound the same as if it were in person. i like loud, but still exotic without the cheap raspy noise

Shamrock 06-12-2012 05:03 PM

What is the difference between ss and cf? Sorry for the ignorance

Cf is lighter and blends in well under the car. It has slightly more exotic higher pitch note similar to European cars. Stainless steel is more flashy: everybody can see it. Its cheaper and probably a little more durable

Non-Resonated CBE + Non-Resonated TP's is going to give you quite a lot of volume, and a good chance of Rasp. This is why typically if someone wants volume without rasp, they get the Resonated TP's with the Non-Res CBE, that way its just sexy VQ growl without rasp.

Not gonna lie, I do tend to get drone quite often, but after driving with the exhaust for a while you learn how to control the RPM's to silence the drone. Only thing I hate is when I have to go really slow when I'm around cops to avoid catching their attention. Lol

1800-2300 RPMs is where I notice the drone. 2k seems to be the resonance frequency of this motor.

Setup: LTH's + 18" Res SS CBE

CF - Carbon Fiber

CBE - Cat-Back Exhaust

TF... I'm guessing you mean TP? - Test Pipes

Yeah, I get significant drone between 2-3K when in high gear under load with my 18" res setup. The thing is, before I had a CBE, I heard tons of road and wind noise so really I have just traded one loud noise for another, more pleasing loud noise. The Z is not a Lexus, it makes itself known.

surprisingly with my non-res/non-res set-up the drone isnt that bad. of course there is defintely some drone at about the same RPMs that you guys are experiencing it.

and i totally agree with it being a much more pleasing sound than road noise and the Z making itself known lol

also the drone is a great way to shut the gf/wife/girl in the passenger seat up :roflpuke2: also a plus to the cabin drone to dull out their noise :p
