Quick formula to properly dyno your car for the most accurate final numbers.

The dyno technician should now how to properly tie your car down and calibrate the dyno for the gears you have in your rear end.

1) Make sure your car is dyno tested in the 1:1 gear. It is 5th gear for both the Manual and Automatic Transmissions.

2) As soon as the car is strapped down and ready to go, do a 1st baseline pull. Now let the car sit and cool for about 6-8 minutes in between (each) run with the fans from the dyno bay cooling the engine area. Do this process for 5-7 runs total. You will see that if properly done, your car will react more favorably as each run is recorded. Runs 6-7 should be virtually identical with not much increase and this will be your sign that you are finished.

Now if you are tuning your car, I would still do everything the same except add runs 8,9 and 10 as the "tuning runs".

Now some people might not agree with this exact method but we have found that this specific car loves to be dynoed this way. Obviously each dyno is different and some might require a few less dyno runs overall, so just use this is more of a template then.

If anyone has any questions on any of this please do not hesitate to call me directly.

Thank you, Tony

It'll fit in your car so long as you don't have a passenger

mdxj 11-27-2012 05:02 PM

Good to know, thanks

My exhaust system was installed today with the first oil change at Beaverton Nissan. The technicians were extremely impressed with the quality of the system commenting on the welds and craftsmanship saying it's by far the best exhaust system they've installed. The lead tech said it was the finest sounding system they've installed. For me, drove the car from the dealership back to my office, (downtown pdx) about 7 miles, could of kept driving but got to pay the bills... :ugh2:

JungleZ 11-27-2012 08:29 PM

Just got back from Fast Intentions. #606 12" Carbon Fiber is installed!!

Thanks so much Tony, highly suggested for anybody who owns a 370Z machine to purchase this Exhaust System.

As soon as Tony turned the car on i had chills down my spine and arm hairs went up. Was a nice 160 mile round trip, stock exhaust fit perfect in the back, couldnt floor it of course but just the sweet pur downshifting in heavy LA traffic on the freeway was a blessing to the ears. Really love the stealth look and exotic sound of the CF!!!!
Ill try and get some pics and hopefully a sound-clip asap.

Ubetit 11-27-2012 09:23 PM

Please post your wait times when you get yours. I'll probably order the end of December because right now the car is hibernating.

NBZ34 11-27-2012 10:20 PM

ordered yesterday.. projected delivery date is 2/6 - 2/20/13

cavemancan 11-28-2012 02:13 AM

I got the call! :excited::excited::excited:

BTW...is there a sound difference between the regular non resonated and the carbon fiber non resonated?

Due to the different muffling capacities of stainless steel, and CF, there will be a different tone between the two. Most people seem to think the CF allows the pitch to be a bit higher and more exotic sounding.

axmea? 11-28-2012 03:05 AM

594 here. Resonated HFC (last minute addition to the order) and Non-resonated CF. After having the car for 19 days, I could tell you that FI was the right choice for me. The performance gain is very noticeable. There is a very big difference between stock and the pcs Tony installed. It was loud the first week and toned down a bit after that. I would say that the cold start SPL was reduced by about 10% from when it was newly installed. I was a little self conscious and concerned about waking up the neighbors with the cold starts for the 1st week or so. To me, starting up the car was better that a nice cup of joe. You will be tempted to drive the car at higher rpms and shift at around 3.5 to 4.5 and occasionally higher (really mostly higher). This combo for me just sounds amazing. I'm inside and really want to hear how it sounds outside. I'd probably have an accident in my pants if I were. On my drive to and from work driving under bridges and through the two tunnels (one of them a short truck route tunnel on southbound 5 - which unfortunately is one of the unsafest tunnels around CA), I simply smile and lust over the sound this exhaust delivers.
I find it amazingly loud and am extremely satisfied with the order.

It's a different story with my wife on long trips by the way. Just by a little bit and want to point this out.

You got non res cf with res hfc? Hows the tone on that? Or cabin noise

As of right now I am projecting 11-13 weeks for a lead time. We always do our best to ship towards the beginning of the shipping window.

Hey guys quick question, does the CBe make the car sluggish in low end torque

Just got notified from my installer that my FI exhaust just came in (had it shipped there) I was #608. Got it a little earlier than promised.
Cannot wait to get it installed on Friday!

FPenvy 11-28-2012 02:14 PM

if any one is questioning the low end torque i'd have to suggest checking out the dyno sheets that Tony has posted of the CBE and compare numbers.

I think it's because I'm barely pressing the gas untill at least 100-150 miles. I can't wait to floor it

dmhenderson 11-28-2012 02:34 PM

Can't wait for this thing to go on. Just can't freaking wait.

Ya. It was a joke. I'm noticing some crazy things that some Corolla drivers are trying to do with me it's annoying but that's for another thread.

Seriously --- jungleZ - you gain. Very noticeable. I wish I can dyno some day. For now, Brain and Butt dyno says so.

You can floor it occasionally. Nothing wrong with a little cheating.

mdxj 11-28-2012 05:10 PM

#607 delivered today. If i can find a shop open this sat I will have it installed then, otherwise it wont go on until I get back in a few weeks.

I mentioned that I plan to get the FI system to the wife shortly after I got my Z, and a complaint about the increased noise is the only thing she had to say about it. So, I am taking that as "permission". My Eclipse had a CBE and was significantly louder than stock and she didn't care to ride in it when we went out and left the kid at home.

Once I get the necessary funds squirreled away, I am placing my order. She can deal with the noise, or I will miss her on "date night", a little.

LakeShow 11-28-2012 09:22 PM

I have had the exhaust on for about a week and a half now and I think I'm really feeling the loss of low end torque. It's very sluggish in low RPMs and in fact I'm not sure if this is related or not but my car (7AT) is having trouble holding the RPMs in any gear at lower RPMs.

The RPMs for example will be around 3.5k in 4th, then if I slightly let off the throttle it just dips to 2k and under as if I was holding in a clutch on a manual car rather than gradually descend as it would or should normally. That happens in almost every gear. This is my first mod. Is what I'm feeling the loss of low end torque or maybe some other issue my car maybe having with the gears and holding low RPMs? The car is 2013 2,000 miles on it.

I have a 7AT as well and that rpm drop you talk of I never noticed. I'm actually gonna play with mine tomorrow to see if I see the same. It may not be an exhaust issue but maybe tranny issue.

I have almost 14k miles on my FI exhaust and I don't feel I loss any torque and any end of the spectrum. If low end torque was lost I highly doubt it to where as with VDC off I can spin tire with the 7AT just by slamming the gas and not even holding any brake. Even when I am at the drag strip I spin off the line with added traction that is sprayed on the track and then chirp at 2nd and then I'm gone lol

Regardless to my personal experience I will play around with rpm drop that you are having tomorrow maybe even take some vids since I sit in traffic to and from work and typically have a little fun to occupy my time anyways lol
