I don't want to order the 3" FI CBE if I don't need too.

Cheers.

shadow85,

As you know we offer a 2.5" CBE and 3" CBE. Working with our TT system, we see a 10hp difference at 600 wheel between the 2.5" and 3". That said, the Borg Warner EFR turbos that are in the AAM TT system are much larger than our Stage 1 & Stage 2 turbos, so I recommend that you run our 3" exhaust in-conjunction with their TT system.

Please do not hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions.

Thanks.
-Tony

I've had the 18" res cat back for some time now and love it, and today my HFC are going on! Yay! Finally got a spot at my local speed shop. I'll report on the increase in sound to those that have been asking about it. I did get the res HFC btw.

Looking forward to this. I have the 18" res with stock cats and absolutely love the sound. I'm interested in the power increase with upgraded cats and a tune but the exhaust sounds pretty much perfect now and I don't want to ruin that for an extra 10hp or so.

jsutton2 02-23-2017 12:10 PM

All done and I'm happy with it!

For me, the car was already naturally loud. I recorded sessions over a 30 min ride to work through the Austin TX hill country where you have to downshift to get up some of the hills without lugging the engine and recorded the results. I also recorded results during spirited driving. My hopes was this might help me rationalize what I hear and think to real numbers.

My initial thought was, yes it's louder but not much. Drone wasn't much worse at all. Not deafening or annoyingly loud by any stretch. The exhaust had a clearer "note". Having something to compare to now, I would describe the previous sound as somewhat "held back" or slightly muted. I could hear more of the "thump" of the cylinders might be another way to describe it.

Enough about my opinion though... lol. Here are some numbers from my iPhone app.

With 18" res and stock cats: 85 avg db, max 94.
With 18" res and stock cats during spirited driving: 85 avg, max 97.
With 18" res and FI HFC: 90 avg, 98 max.
With 18" res and FI HFC during spirited driving: 90 avg, 101 max.

No tune yet but I'll post my results when I get them in case someone is interested.

If you think the sound is perfect with stock cats, you might not like the extra volume or tone you get with the HFC. I wish I had a video or sound recording so you could hear the difference in just the tone... :(

I wonder what the db level on my tp/non res cf is and if my FI straight pipes would break the fb reader? Lol

Soulspeed Performance- off 290, south Austin. Best shop to get alignment too.

JARblue 02-23-2017 12:15 PM

Right on :tiphat:

I've got alignment agreement with NTB, so I hit them up every 6 months or so or whenever I put on new wheels/tires.

I have a sound level meter, and plan on taking some sound level measurements before and after on mine. Im convinced it can't be any louder than my Mustang was with a built motor no cats and 40 series flowmasters, with no insulation in the interior (only carpet).

My plan is to measure at idle and a couple different RPM points with the factory exhaust, then again when I swap to the Berk HFCs and non resonated FI exhaust. Both inside and outside the car. I haven't seen anyone actually take measurements and you cant tell how loud things are in videos. Maybe helpful for those trying to decide whether they want resonators, HFCs, etc.

My exhaust is still roughly 3-4 weeks away though.

Shipment created for #1573

Also #177 for LTH

OptionZero 03-15-2017 01:04 PM

Just placed an order through Next Level's tax season special (7% off w/ coupon code Lucky7)

Will I get an exhaust # thru FI the same as if i'd ordered thru FI direct?

The only downside is i had to pay up front, which was annoying but understandable

cooltoy 03-15-2017 04:31 PM

I am sure you would be treated with the same great service. PM FI with your order information and they will keep track of things for you.

OptionZero 03-15-2017 04:53 PM

Tried four times today over the course of the past several hours to get thru to next level. Voicemail each time. Closed today for some reason?

but i got email confirmation for the order with them, i'll wait to see if i get something with FI

also had an RHFC in that

have a south bend clutch/lighter flywheel waiting for install

can't wait for the quick revving sound

cooltoy 03-15-2017 05:12 PM

I am not sure if you will get anything from FI, unless you contact them first.

Leave a voicemail for Lance @ next level I am sure he will take care of you or as others have said reach out to Kevin @ FI

Jmg90300zx 03-16-2017 01:24 AM

Do we know what order number we are up to and what orders will ship in the near future? I'm 1586. I know we're getting close.

In eight days they might have moved up a couple.

OptionZero 03-17-2017 05:58 PM

minor update
Looks like i have an exhaust # in the 1660's according to Kevin at FI, but it would technically be assigned to a Next Level order. There's not gonna be an invoice from FI

Just clarifying in case any else is going through NLP

cooltoy 03-17-2017 06:40 PM

But you can still ask Kevin for the number and keep track of progress.

OptionZero 03-17-2017 07:46 PM

I did talk to him. They needed NLP's own order info which I don't have. But Kevin did say I'm in the 1660 range

cooltoy 03-17-2017 08:05 PM

I am sure you have tons of time to get the info to them. :icon17:

Within a few days of placing the order NLP will have an order number, and an estimated ship date. As much as I know you're probably excited about it, you might as well settle down and get ready to wait. Just like all of us. The more time FI spends on the phone and sorting out orders the less time they are building exhaust systems.

I placed my order and within a day or so I had an email from Kevin and I made a couple small changes to it after asking him some questions. No big deal, and great customer support / service. It sucks waiting, but I knew what I was getting into when I placed my order. Its the cost of getting something custom made.

Id suggest you contact NLP where you placed the order they will have all the information shortly, including the estimated delivery date. FI has a good reputation for meeting their estimated delivery dates.

It's not like the guys building the exhaust do the office work as well. :icon17:

What is the normal LD for the CBE?

Karnak 03-17-2017 11:22 PM

My exhaust got shipped last week and made it to the Border yesterday...:happydance: Going to pick it up tomorrow, can't wait to see the product and have it in hand, been a long wait but I'm sure well Worth it.

Kevin provided one of the best Customer service attitude I have seen in the business in all my years dealing with parts order etc. He managed to handle my particular requests without issues, responded to my emails very promptly and was just awesome to deal with. Kudos to F.I. for their Customer service with my order.

Btw, I got the Prismatic tips so will try to grab pics of them for you guys when I go get them tomorrow and unpack them, Wonder if I'll sleep tonight...:excited:

I know, but its still kind of absurd to order through another vendor and then call, call, call, call and hope you'll be able to get information when you didnt place the order.... But just my opinion.

Also unless they are shipping it directly to the end customer, how are they sure they aren't giving away personal information? There's several reasons only to deal with the order placer.

Just like there are advantages to ordering directly from vendors, like in the off chance something is wrong. Im sure FI would just take care of it without making him go through the shop he ordered through, but other places don't always operate that way.

Karnak 03-18-2017 03:40 PM

Hi guys, i picked my FI CBE, here are some pics of the packaging and the prismatic tips, can't wait to install it...:)

the only thing I notice different is the tip on previous photos I have seen appear to have diffusion holes in them on the Inside kinda like a muffler, but those are straight through, not sure if they changed the design or if its because those are the prismatic etc and they don't come perforated in the internal wall like the others etc

in a ways, it may be better this way for my northern climate as it won't create areas where moisture can acummulate etc

And Tks again for the great Service, items were very nicely wrapped and when I picked em up, they were in a big box with lots of bubbleswrap, but I threw out the box to more easily carry in the car.

It's because the standard tips are resonated and prismatic are non-resonated

Hilla_killa 03-18-2017 08:43 PM

Are resonated tips more likely to rust?
