3000 mile review
For those on the edge. This is a very high quality product. The sound is amazing. It is definitely a head turner. The sound even got better after a few thousand miles of heat cycles went through. The sound inside the cabin is tolerable. Awesome product. No drone. Just a beautiful exhaust note

How much louder are the resonated test pipes vs. the resonated HFCs?

My apologies Sensei Kreese. You should look at the website to get an idea of what you want for the exhaust, then call them and place the order. Well that's what I did :) . Things to consider: What look do you want, stainless or carbon fiber? What kind of volume do you want from your exhaust? Fairly loud, go non-resonated, a little quieter, 12 inch resonated, (same tone) or something that won't (always) wake the neighbors, 18 inch resonated. Also, if you are looking for volume, then you will want to consider the RHFC/HFC's or test pipes. That is where the call to Tony will help you decide. I have 4K miles with a FI, non-res (stock cats) cf exhaust and spend more time (99%) with my windows down (even in 90+ degree heat) just to hear the exhaust. Whatever you decide, don't wait, get on the list, you won't be disappointed by the end result. It will make your Z sound like it should! |
Quick question to Tony,
i have the 18 inch res + carbon kit and recently i have been hearing a weird frequency while i am cruising around 60 mph and 3000 rpm or less. is that normal and is there a way to fix? i cant say it is the resonators for sure but its hard to pin point it atm. in no way i am trying to devalue the quality parts FI offers, i have the exhaust on me for over 20k miles and i love it |
Haven't been in here for a while but just wanted to chime in that its been a Year and 15k Miles on since I intalled my setup and its running strong and Love the setup I went with

Took the plunge today, ordered 18 inch resonated, stainless for my 40th.

**For those who have received theirs, when does a shipping email typically arrive and then how long after is the exhaust at the door step? I'm trying to schedule an appointment for install ASAP after arrival. Thanks.** |
Got my non-res carbon installed today.
Only other mod on the car is Takeda long tube intakes. There's some drone 2500-3200 (50-70mph) in the cabin, is that pretty normal? It sounds great revving and driving, there's no issue but it's awful loud in the cabin. Normal? Should've gotten a 12" rez? |
I'm number build 997. I received my tracking number a few days ago. My exhaust is due to arrive on the 27th of this month. Too bad I work on the 27-1st. I "might" have to sacrifice some sleep to install my CBE.

Finally got mine installed (888). CF - 18". Beautiful sound, but louder then I expected. Hopefully it comes down a bit. had to brighten the picture up quite a bit for the cans to be seen. CF is pretty stealthy.

cool toy how's the interior drone at like 2000-3000rpm in 5th and 6th cruising speeds
Not exterior sound level but interior drone |
I have no idea what drone sounds like, but at cruising, there is very little noise. Sound level is somewhere between the stock exhaust at cruising and stock exhaust at WOT.
Hope that makes sense. The most noise with this exhaust is at cold start and when you put your foot down. |
ct has 18" resonators and no hfc or a tp. Not likely to have it. Enjoy you new mod cooltoy.
|
I have 18" res carbon and there is no drone. I never had a aftermarket exhaust and at first i thought it was loud in the cabin, but mainly because we dont have a trunk to block out some of the sound. Now that I have gotten used to it, its perfect for me.

Anyone in San Diego area that has FI HFC's and any type of FI CBE I can meet to understand the sound and DB levels to make an informed decision before mine ships in a month or so... I ordered FI HFC'S and CF CBE with no resonators... I am willing to drive to you... Let me know.

Yeah, but on pearl white it is bad a$$. In daylight there is no problem seeing the cf cans (have the same, congrats on the install) Plus there aren't as many cf exhausts. Makes it even better. |
Thanks all. I am not complaining. It looks and sounds great. I am sure I will get used to the sound level and it should get some what quiter once it wears in.

I have NR HFC and NR CF CBE. |

I am not sure if air temperature has to do with how an exhaust sounds, but it was warmer in the morning today then yesterday. |
Strongly considering placing an order.

Just read back a few pages of posts. After that you probably won't be considering anymore. :D |

I forgot the amount of miles Tony mentioned before there is about a 5% decrease in sound, but maybe you have passed that now. |
Could be. I drive about 70 miles in a weekday, so about 350 miles since the install.
Seems like more than 5% (how does one even quantify that), but I like it, I like it a lot. I was having some small amount of buyers remorse. No anymore. |
cooltoy, your exhaust will break in nicely. I've had my 18" CF #830 since this past NOV and its amazing, cant get enough of that sound :eekdance:
