Exhaust banging on crossmember

1) loosen all the bolts connecting the y pipe/mid pipe/muffler (But dont remove them) 2) jack up the y pipe/x pipe (as high as you can get it without breaking

1) loosen all the bolts connecting the y pipe/mid pipe/muffler (But dont remove them)
2) jack up the y pipe/x pipe (as high as you can get it without breaking anything) (use a hockey puck to prevent scratching your exhaust)
3)start tightening bolts from the cats towards the muffler
4)remove the jack

make sure you tighten bolts evenly (similiar to tightneing lugs).. IE left outside, right outside, right inside, left inside

I tried unbolting everything and then tightening it back down while having another person hold it as high is it would go. As soon as I tightened the bolts it pulled the pipes back down against the crossmember. I'm a little afraid that the amount of force necessary to keep it from moving back down against the crossmember would damage the pipe.
