Filtration Testing for Amsoil, K&N, Napa, Jackson Racing, Baldwin, and Mazda air filters on a Miata
Hardly a controlled test, and the variance seen between the different filters is well within experimental error.

The amount of extra crap let through, even if accurate, is negligible in the grand scheme of things anyways, provided you don't live in a desert environment or something.

if you engine blows up for any other reason and you have aftermarket CAI they will void the warranty depending on the dealer.

Just to add to your comments, a filter only blocks particulates from passing through the medium down to its designed size. Anything smaller will pass through and as you correctly noted, is negligible. This also applies to oil and fuel filters. They are filters - not purifiers.
