The new exhaust is being worked on now. And it is very different from anything else.
That sounds awesome!

Default Update on ART Pipes

Hi everyone,

Another short review/feedback for the Motordyne ART pipes. First off I would like to thank you Mariella from Motordyne for being so helpful when shipping the product over. Also thank you DjSquall for referring me to Alphawerx to do the install, they were professional and good people to work with. Oh by the way ART pipes is installed onto the stock exhaust, only other MOD is Sprint Booster. I don't have any pics yet will see if Alphawerx have any.

The product: It was packaged well so no issues with the ART pipes, overall I was pleased with the craftmanship. Not to mention its very light compared to the stock cats.

Install: From what I heard it was quite diffcult to remove the bolts, it was rusty and took a bit more time I believe but overall pretty straightfoward. No leaks from what I gather.

Sound: Very little difference between stock when you start the car, its slightly deeper. Like Kastley said there is no rasp when pushing the car, there is a slight hiss around 1500-2k RPM.

Performance: Definitely an improve on torque throughout the bands and very likely som gains in hp, didn't dyno the car so I don't any numbers. Overall I'm quite impressed with the ART pipes, seems to have all the benefits of test pipes minus the rasp. I imagine if the ART pipes are bolted with the upcoming Motordyne exhaust it would sound pretty sweet.
Update: It's not as loud now, sound has deepen and gas mileage has improved from 15L/100KM to 12L/100KM.

Potential Cons: Potential meaning I'm not sure if this problem is due to the product. This is day 2 of having the ART pipes but I noticed some fumes coming from the car, smells similar to gasoline but not sure. Anyone else experiencing this? You smell it when you start up the car and if you are stuck in traffic idling you will notice it as well. Note I didn't reset the BCM or unplug the battery, would that change anything? Also I notice that my gauge that displays how much mileage is left until I need to refill changed dramatically. Mileage dropped, not sure why either.
Update: Tony confirmed that the smell is normal. I also did a reset and the mileage gauge is back to normal.

Overall Impression: I had a good run in poker so I had some extra cash to buy this and it was worth it, if anyone is looking to improve the 370z performance should definitely look into this.

That smell is definitely normal. At first, it was a little overbearing to me, but it's not that noticeable after a while. It will become normal. I'm pretty sure that Tony says the upcoming exhaust is possibly going to eliminate the strong smell and rasp. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Tony.)

Try not to worry about the smell. It lets everyone behind you know what's up.

you can only eliminate the smell by having cats in the path

with his exhaust you can have optional cat in there to eliminate the smell.

The smell is from not having cats in the system. Its completely normal for all test pipes and ART pipes.

At least for me, the smell doesn't mean anything but for thoes who are sensitive to it, adding in cats is easy. It will all be taken care of in the new exhaust.

Can't wait to see the results

So can you give me an idea of how much power I would gain with the ART pipes over a set of HFC's? I want the ART pipes but not the smell. I already have a CBE so if I change out everything, I would like it to be worth the extra effort expense. I don't think it would be worth it to gain like 3-5 hp for close to $1000 more expense.

When I say change out everything, I mean sell my Berk CBE and buy the Motordyne one with the cat built in.

I just cannot wait for his exhaust to get finished... hopefully it's going to be soon and based on some of the numbers i've seen with his exhaust on the 350z, it will be worth the wait.

After watching videos and reading reviews about their 350Z exhaust I must say it appears to be very impressive. The Y pipe going into a resonance chamber looks kinda korny to me. I always prefer the dual. But, if it works, don't question it.

Heres a review of the ART pipes and their TDX vs "Brand X" where they prove the "myth".

Lets wait for the system to be released and then we can do all kinds of independent dynos for the various configurations.

And there is more than one.

That was the system in production just prior to the release of the TDX. So that picture is not of the TDX.

But that resonator chamber you refer to is also a module. A XYZ pipe interchangeable module where you can put in a straight pipe, resonator or HFC depending on the application. It gives a lot of flexibility for various applications.

In fact, the TDX is simply one more option that was built onto the XYZ pipe to create the True Dual X pipe (TDX) exhaust system.

The new exhaust for the 370Z is entirely new and completely different from anything else. Unlike anything you have ever seen or heard with all kinds of new functionality.

Independent dynos will be mandatory. In fact, we should organize a shoot out because this is one that everybody will want to see.

So I can assume this is going to work with a forced induction setup?

Having several options is going to be nice.
