Nismoracer, I agree what you say...I went to one of my local muffler shop. They will do around 250 custom muffler with my stock muffler tips. Or + around 80 for 3'' tips.. I guess the sound wont be any difference if you go with the short tail one..But yes...this is a bit pricey...

I can have it done at a local exhaust shop too but I am potentially going to be working with AAM on other products of theirs so I guess that is part of my motivation. Quote:

I wonder what it will sound with Stillen Headers + Berk HFC + tanabe Y pipe+ Meistereschaft mid pipe with a any CAI...sounds crazy.......

Just not too muffled I do want the sound the 370z is lacking but I want to be able to hear what my grandchildren say when I'm old so watch the decibels. |

Would love a couple of tip options. Anyone else up for want quad tips |
How big do you think the quad tips work on the rear bumper? max 4'' for both? I would love to hav quad tips if there is an option for it..I just had my Y pipe and mid pipe replaced and the sound meter reads around 82 decibels in the car. and 89 outside.with cold start..warm start. it go back down to around 78 decibels inside and 83 outside
|
Man someone hurry and get these and say whether or not they drone. I am starting to think bout just putting in some exhaust cut outs ( $30 ) I can plug it when I wanna run quiet and uncork it when I wanna rumble. :driving:

Also can anybody post up that video from the 350z with longtubes and a full race exhaust where you can hear it like 2 or 3 min's before the guys car ever comes into view? If my car is ever fast enough to beat a z06 i will be that guy |
can someone call these guys and tell them to come back to answer all our questions??? :p
would do it myself but I'm in Hong Kong for a while. |
Judging from what others have fabricated before the short tails came out, it seems they drone a lot. I don't see any difference in aam short tails and ones that a shop can make so they must drone like crazy.
|
I know alot of companies sell cat back exhausts and then theres always changing out the muffler but does anyone make a muffled version of a short tail? Maybe aam is on too something with a muffled version that will produce a nice deep tone with NO drone.

Have you read the this?
Fancy Tech: How to Get Rid of Exhaust Drone, works great! the one in the thread. I dunt know if you guys considered about it. wether is a muffled version or not.. I believe there going to be crazy drone..I guess we just have to sit and wait for the response... |
I don't see why a muffled short tail version should produce any more drone than any other aftermarket exhaust: the factory resonators in the mid pipes are still in place which would make it comparable to any resonated cat back exhaust. Some people are more sensitive to drone than others though.

There's only one way to find out. Get some.

How much is the shipping cost for HK? I don't think HFC will allowed over there? I had my time over at HK driving my frds LEXUS ISF..doesnt feel like a sports car at all..Almost felt asleep..too quiet..very comfort..Now get back to Z..truely feel this is better than F..

I'm interested in a muffler option also, please make it happen !!

Any update from AAM ?
|
I think AAM will have good demand if they create a mid pipe for 370z..
because they already have Y pipe and now they had Axle back whats left is mid pipe.. AAM?? where is ur mid pipe?!!!? |

^Agreed on the mid
Also lets see the muffler versions |
In for dyno. I want these love the sound I just want to make sure I'm not losing torque
|
I recently contact with Jon about the short tail exhaust. Im going to order one this week and hopfully be here in about a week or so.. I will be posting new video and pics up. AAM are still developing the muffled version. On the test run, they put resonator within the pipe, but the result does not significantly improve..They will keep this updated once the muffled version is out..
|
And I like exhaust drone
|
Is not going to be crazy lound but in high rams there will be some..just sounds amazing..I asked if they going to do any tip option, Well, I guess they are not in for this part
|
I wanna hear a butt dyno too younter. The only concern I have losin the tourque because of less backpressure. I'm pretty sure most of the backpressure happens further up the line but still I'm wary of jumpin on these
|
I had my muffler off and GAINED torque before with the stock pipes, actually a noticeable amount. You wont lose it thanks to the VVEL and the size of the motor. Stock pipes are tiny and the cats are restrictive as is, just gains here to be had.
|
i still haven't heard from them!!
