AAM Competition S-Line Short Tail Axle-Back Exhaust

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5201/...233ff8d3_b.jpg

Our much anticipated S-Line Short Tail Axle-Back exhaust is finally here. Designed as a rear muffler delete, the S-Line Short Tails drop approximately 18 lbs off the exhaust of the car, and change the relatively quiet stock exhaust note to a much more aggressive low growl. The Shortys are U.S. made at our facility in Maryland from 304 Stainless Steel. Weld by weld, bend by bend, each Shorty is hand made by our fabricators and heavily scrutinized by our product engineer before leaving the door.

The Kits include all graphite crush gaskets, bolts, washers and cap screws needed for install. Installation is very easy, and can usually be done with basic hand tools right in your driveway. You will need to remove the factory emissions canister shield to install the Short Tail Exhaust.

We're offering special introductory pricing for forum members first. Enter the code above to get an additional discount on the S-Line Short Tails for 1 week only. After next Friday, the promotion will be over, and the Shortys will be back to retail pricing.

The link to our exhaust can be found on our website here: AAM Competition 370Z S-Line Short Tail Exhaust

About time boys! This is exactly what I had a local shop fab up for me before I bought my catback. Super loud but sounds absolutely wicked.

Please make one that fits a Stillen exhaust... :)

Jeffblue 12-10-2010 04:49 PM

thats cool!

racerxj17 12-10-2010 04:50 PM

wow, sounds better than every aftermarket exhaust that i have heard. sounds much like the exhaust on a 350, high pitch, and clean. very nice.

JB-370z 12-10-2010 04:52 PM

For sure one of the best sound exhausts to date! Good job AAM!

Highwind 12-10-2010 06:53 PM

Sounds awesome, Any Dyno's. It should be really cheap considering its just a pipe and a tip.

Kastley85891 12-10-2010 07:18 PM

Any tip options?

christian370z 12-10-2010 07:18 PM

That sounds absolutely amazing, how loud would this be with HFCs installed on the car?

nogoodname 12-10-2010 07:28 PM

Will you guys have a can muffler option? It would look similar to a Tanabe axle back.

Ear-shattering. I can tell you that my custom muffler delete had immense drone and gave me a headache with 20 min of highway driving. The sound was awesome, but it's so loud you think your ears will bleed at about 4-5.5k rpm. With HFCs, it would be even louder.

Not trying to criticize the AAM axle-back delete, but buyers need to know what they're in for. I'd recommend this for the guys who drive their car on occasion and want to turn some heads. It would also be cool for the track, but you'd need ear plugs with your helmet. This setup would also be perfect for a roadster as you wouldn't have any of the drone...just the incredible sound. What you can't appreciate in any of the videos is the over-run burble. It's downright sexy.

That being said, I absolutely miss the sound this setup has. If there was a solenoid option to switch between muffled and muffler-bypass, I'd buy it without a second thought. I don't care if it would add 50lbs to the car, it would be friggin' awesome.

This is essentially what you're getting:

Can you Pm me cost shipped to Hong Kong?

Also sorry 1 more question, what is the diameter of the exhaust tips?! I hope they are at least 4.5 inches!

servo370z 12-10-2010 11:48 PM

Really considering this exhaust, are there any downsides? and how much shipped to 91030. Love the sound btw. thanks

Shoot, I figured it would be loud since ran the car without mufflers (albeit with stock cats) and it wasn't too bad. Thanks for the insight, the drone would kill it with my highway driving.

It would be nice to see mufflers in the axle back exhaust but that might make it too similar to the full cat-back system.

Jamaica 12-11-2010 01:30 AM

wow must say it looks good and sounds better.

Downside is that your in LA. If this exhaust generates alot of drone, don' be surprised if you get pulled over

charlie89 12-11-2010 03:35 AM

I'm sold!

Let me know if you can ship the item to Australia :excited:

Yet another simple upgrade for the Z community. A bit pricey IMO, but still nice

A+ for producing these!

You should stamp this on the box though ;)

Kastley85891 12-13-2010 09:28 AM

Its nicely done for sure, needs to be a little cheaper IMHO, but hey, it all takes development and time, business is business.

:iagree: Maybe change that 3 to a 2? Then they can make an option for mufflers added and put that 3 back in front ;)

We're looking into a possible Titanium and Flat black rear tip alternative, and I'll keep you posted with pics and info as I have it.

We haven't tested it on a car with HFCs or Test Pipes, but we have a shop Z that we use as the guinea pig, so we'll install our Test Pipes and HFCs on the car and get sound clips for you. I have a Go Pro HD camera as well, so I'll try to mount it up on the inside of the car to get in-car sound clips as well as sounds from the outside.

We got ya. We're considering a muffler option, similar to the Rocked Dancer Axle Back from Fujimura. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

I also wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone for the comments and feedback. Your input goes directly into our product development for any future parts we produce for the 370Z. This one of the reasons I love the forums, as it gives us a direct link to the you, the consumer. We try our best to make good parts that everyone will enjoy, but we also understand our parts may not be everyone's cup of tea. All things considered though, seriously, thank you, we appreciate it.

If you've any other questions or need me to get a shipping quote for you, send me a pm!

Thanks again,
Jon

I also think the retail price is pretty high. If the retail price is for with nicer tip(such as HKS hi power tip), it's gonna be awesome. Btw, the sound is great!!!

ClemsonWill 12-13-2010 12:46 PM

Those look really clean. I look forward to seeing the other tip options.

Sounds good.. Did your muffler delete drone like crazy? I spoke to a few friends and their telling me it would sound like crap.. and i should just get a cat back system

fairladyZ34 12-14-2010 12:22 AM

sounds great

98intrigue 12-14-2010 09:28 PM

I can't believe no one developed a kit like this sooner! The sound is fantastic, but hopefully people realize why cars have mufflers...

I drove around with my open y-pipe for about a month. The drone was absolutely horrible...but I think the exhaust sound made it worth it, haha.

CBRich 12-16-2010 08:36 AM

I went muffler delete for a while. I think it sounded great. Maybe not quiet enough for a daily driver, but it does sound amazing.

JDW1479 12-16-2010 10:14 AM

Is it safe to assume there are no fitment issues with a Nismo, having a different rear bumper and all.

W.O.W. 370Z 12-16-2010 10:22 AM

Greddy box?

JDW1479 12-16-2010 10:32 AM

I wonder why he just didn't install the pipes himself, super easy DIY. Maybe no jacks or jack stands or even ramps. Hmmmmm.
