i would buy these if they offered different tips (larger, oval, or black) in a heartbeat

How is this compared to just a Berk CBE with everything else stock? Is it louder or does the Berk sound nicer? I'm sorry just been trying to choose between this and the Berk and maybe the 2.5 Dual AAM Competition Exhaust.

I'm going to assume that these are louder due to the fact that there is no muffler to quiet down noise levels and just leaving it up to factory resonators to quiet it down. If you're looking for just noise, definitely these. If you want power with noise, go with catback. Just me but $400 for just muffler delete with straight piping and tips is not my cup of tea.

RoshDawg 11-02-2011 11:59 AM

I know everyone's thinking it. So I'll just say it.
Spacer mod...

I agree, I don't like the muffler delete. i'll just do it the right way and get a CBE. Probably gonna go with Berk. Thanks

Somebody say spacer mod? :D

edub370 01-04-2012 03:10 PM

If a company would come up with an affordable muffler replacement setup at around the $300-$400 range (cough* vendors are you listening?) they would make a KILLING. i know a lot of people dont like the idea of going muffler-less but dont have the funds/want for a full cbe... right now its this or the megan system, and i know a lot of people question megans quality. seems like this would be right down top speed or CNT's alley...

Juice14 02-03-2012 12:18 PM

Read the whole thing, I dont heve the Z yet, but when I have it, seems like a decent option for just sound and weight saving. The price it just a tad high IMO

leeyeegue 02-08-2012 03:21 PM

Thanks Jon, I just put them on.

First impressions: sounds awesome. I think it has the best sounds @ both lower end and higher end. Low end is really deep, and higher end is really high pitched. 4k rpm is where I don't want to be around for too long... It's almost like when you listen to music, you turn the Mid all the way up while treble and bass stay...

in terms of loudness... honestly, I don't think it's much louder than the GReddy Ti-C cat back I had on my G37S back then. Perfectly livable for me :)

Jon@AAMComp 02-08-2012 04:07 PM

^Thanks mate, I'm glad you like them. Let me know if you need anything, pm me anytime.

This thing is a beauty man. I bought this in july last year for my firt exhaust, never been more happier! The only thing that made me change it to a cbe is that i want more oower. But then it lose the sound of this AAM shorty

NOFATCHX 02-10-2012 01:21 AM

Right now I'm just lookin for sound from the exhaust hence why I've focused on this. Going to pick up a Stillen intake for some power. Just trying to justify the cost off 400 bucks for two pipes and a couple polished tips...

Worth every penny brother. Five of the 370s on my team all have... great stuff!

fxroar 02-12-2012 06:02 PM

From just the short tail.. There's a good amount of low end trq loss. I swapped the stock and aam back and forth a few times. Might have to get uprev to make sure my AFR is at acceptable level. This thing is Beast regardless.

Yeah i also noticed the major loss of torque. So it is fixable with uprev? Good to know that, thanks for the info:tup:

Oh yeah, my take off nearly disappeared with the short tails. But I love the fact that I consistently get complimented on the sound and asked what my exhaust is, the fact it drops weight off the Z and the look...

Being that we mod our Zs so much its only expected that doing one thing, will require another. I completely opened up my exhaust so the UpRev helped adjust so I can enjoy and take advantage of all.

Keep your AAM, compliment it with the UpRev.

:-)

I agree on you with all of the above, i definitely feels the car a bit lighter in the rear. but def lose the take off. i have to rev it up to 3.5k and above to get it running like oem's take offs.

Unfortunately, i already sold it to one of my friend. currently my setup is Invidia Gemini and i'll be on the market again as soon as i got rid of my current setup. i love the sound of the AAM but i need moar power with sound + burnt tips :p im a ti fan :excited:

I'll be UpReving the Z shortly after i get to install another cbe+test pipes and intake manifold and possibly header and hopefully a gain of some 30+ HP since i already installed the Gen 3s

You'll be happy to know that AAM is now titanium tipping their short tails now. ;-)

On bald tires at the track last night I broke 15.1

In El Paso. At 100+ ft I was still accelerating and slipping/no traction. And still managed low 15'. Once I do pulleys, tires and retune I expect to hit high 12s. I'm on the left.

Congratulations anyway! get some CAIs and pulley and they'll be better

Seriously are these things too loud for daily drivers

Huck 02-16-2012 10:22 AM

Evil, youtube AAM short tail 370z, and watch the PW one. It's not loud at regular rpm's, it just gets mean when you get on the go juice.

+1 agreed....

I'm completely opened up. And unless I'm flooring it at 6k+ rpm its just a nice deep note

Actually no, i've run this setup from july 2011 to january this year and the Z is my DD. the reason why i changed this exhaust is that i wanted more power. but unfortunately the sounds are lost :shakes head: this short tails, they are loud but not too loud for DD as for cruising speeds it's still somewhat can be heard but once you step on it then it comes to life ;)

Also, we all lose back pressure ... but when I did UpRev I got it back

So at Highway speeds say 80+ Im not gonna have to yell for my passenger to hear me?
Dumb question, this will void any factory warranty?

I've hit 150... passenger heard me... not 100%... but she heard me.... and I heard her screaming. Pretty sure it was "slow down" either that or "glow clown" dunno, wasn't really paying attention. The road had my attention. LoL

Highly doubtful. Also, you can just swap the axle back with the stock muffler before you go into the dealership

Dynamat is expensive. I'd consider it overkill but hey, if you wanna rip out your inside go for it. I like mine... I love driving through tunnels and under bridges just to rev... lol
