I bought some extra heat wrap at the auto parts store so I could completely cover the line leading to the evap canister (it is obvious which line needs wrapping once you are under there). The evap cover can't be missed and is held on with 3 bolts (or screws...I can't remember!). The bend of the heat shield should even be called a bend. It is more of a "tweak" or "push".
I think you need to get the front wheels off the ground a bit. I had mine up 3" and still had trouble getting a breaker bar on the cat bolts. Give it a shot though. The bolts that gave me the hardest time were the ones connecting the stock Y pipe to the axle back. Good luck and keep us posted. Soon you will be part of the cult!
