My tubes came in today, going downstairs to install them now.

Tunerz_Store 05-17-2011 09:02 PM

Will have these back in stock in the near future. The last two batches lasted about 4-5 days and we were out again.

Red__Zed 05-17-2011 09:05 PM

mine just showed up. I don't think I feel like installing them before ZdayZ though.

Best seller from HPS without a doubt. ETA is 2 weeks until more are in. Thanks for the business everyone!

Does it make any differences when I use the circle clamps in stead of a T-clamps? They are out of stock :(

Tunerz_Store 05-23-2011 05:29 PM

No it won't make that much of difference to be concerned with. Your stock intake uses just the circle clamps.

I wanted to write a small review now that my tubes have been on the car with the K&N drop ins for about a month. I have noticed 0 gain in hp or sound and maybe about .5 mpg increase in gas mileage. The tubes took about 20min to install. Even though they look the same I could not get them to install correctly at first, they had horrible bends in them. I changed the tubes to opposite sides and then they fit properly, it does seem like a little bit could be trimmed from the tubes however. (I did not trim anything).

So in conclusion they do fit without being trimmed and unfortunately I couldn't detect any difference from stock other than a small mpg boost. However, I am sure they are giving some power increase, even if the butt dyno can't tell, and I do not regret the purchase at all.

Then what's the point of us even doing this? Seems like I wasted some money, glad I didn't open them yet.

2ndChance 05-24-2011 04:11 PM

Anyone tried these with the dry filters? Or had engine light come up with the K&N?

Red__Zed 05-24-2011 04:16 PM

Finally got around to installing mine today. Ran into the typical issue with the passenger tube, which is a bit irritating. The nipple is angled the same for both tubes, but needs to be set up differently for the passenger tube...

azn370z 05-24-2011 04:17 PM

I have stock air filter, stock cats, and berks cbe and it did increase the sound. I didn't trim my tube and mine fit perfectly. I noticed the increase in throttle response. I don't think trimming the tube is necessary, it may be a tight fit though. Just bend the tube to get it to fit rather than cutting it. I should also add my z ran a little rough for a couple hundred miles, I guess maybe the ecu was adjusting.

well, when the 2 mods, tubes and filters, are done together, they produce worthy gains that, considering their combined price, make them a good alternative to the Stillen G3. They do alter the sound a bit, but most people wont notice unless you are more in touch with your car, while any power gains won't be "felt" except for much better throttle response in most rpm areas.

Worth it? Yes, very much so.

Thanks for the information. If it gives me better throttle response at least, I think it's worth it then. Plus the tubes will look better than the stock accordions. Now to get off my *** and install it.

It's mostly a feel-good mod. I bought them primarily because they clean up the engine bay a bit.

svmtbman 05-26-2011 09:05 AM

Just got mine today!

kenchan 05-26-2011 04:19 PM

Mine came with the same clamps and note, I sent the email today requesting the worm bands when they come in stock. The tubes were much easier to install than I expected, took like 40 minutes and I didn't have to remove the strut bar.

Just got an email from HPS saying the worm clamps should be back in stock next week, they are sending them to me for free.

TheGreatOne 05-27-2011 07:55 AM

I think this is my next mod, some good info in this post

Its not as pretty as an Injen or Stillen CAI but more cost effective and I'm not worrying about low end torque.

Passeger side tube doesn't fit properly. It crushes the tube in on itself

I had thought that I fixed mine to sit properly. I looked again yesterday and noticed it was crushing the tube as well. So i unscrewed the breather hose from the manifold and just let it sit loose on top of where it would screw. it repositions itself where it doesnt crush the tube, so im just going to leave it like that. Figure its not going to cause any harm not being screwed down, it may jump around, but only a little...

Hes right. If you look at the picture where the breather hose fits to the HPS tube, its presses in on it and makes it an "oval" shape instead of circular. If you put your hand on the tube under where the strut bar is, you will feel how it isnt circular all the way through...

Red__Zed 05-27-2011 08:34 AM

Yeah, I was thinking about doing the same

Besides i stripped/cross threaded that screw hole lol, so i dont have much choice right now. I think im going to just put a plastic strap through the hole to hold the tube in place, but at least it will sit better...

What are you seeing in the picture to lead you to believe the tube is crushed? Everything seems round and in the right place to me when I run my hand around the tube.

I trimmed the breather and main tube a little when I installed and no issue. :)

The breather tube is pulled 'down' in the picture, and it is warping the tube.

Ordered mine from Corsport a long long long long long time ago.
It''s getting frustrating.

Anyone else ship these to Australia? I would be more than happy to cancel my order.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Corsport is absolutely horrible!!! I would suggest canceling and ordering them with WeSellAutoParts.com...

It looks and feels "round" to me? I'm getting my new clamps from HPS next week so I'll look closer when I swap them out.

On another note, I purchased my tubes from Evasive Motorsports and had them at my door within a week (5 day shipping).
