you say that now but when you are fighting and cursing your airboxes you'll be singing a different tune. Unless you remove your strut bar the install can be a pain if you dont want to trim anything.

Mr. Q 02-18-2011 01:41 PM

I guess I got near the last ones then plus my car is blue. Any chance the ones for the 350 fit ours cause they still have those

Ordered from Corsport this passed Thursday, received today, and installed this evening. I didn't remove the strut tower brace and really didn't feel this was that difficult, I got lucky I guess. No need to trim these, as instructions mention, perfect fit. I also have the AFE dry filters. Butt-dyno approved.

I didn't remove the strut tower and had no lube but a little sweet talking and a lot of force and she finally gave in. Wait what are we talking about? Also the Cobb tubes just came in a box with a receipt and no instructions only in hindsight did I think it would have been easier without the tower there, and now KY

Need some Help

I finally decided to install my HPS tubes today and ran into some problems. The left side tube fit just fine and all hook up great. The right side tube would hook up to the air box and the intake just fine but the alignment of the little plastic box would not line up at all. I could get it hooked up but then it puts a bad kink in the main intake hose. I tired both tubes and same problem on the right side.
Both of my HPS intake tubes are exactly alike. Is there suppose to be a right and a left? The tubes came in separate plastic bags with different part numbers on them, but they are the same. I worked on this project for two hours (most all of that was scratching my head) which should have taken 15 minute for the whole thing. Bottom line is that I didn’t like what I saw so put it all back to stock.

TonyBPD 02-20-2011 02:59 PM

A mistake was made somewhere during the packaging. I just took a look at mine and they are different with different part numbers.

They sent you two left side hoses. The hoses are not identical. When installed, the HPS logo is on the top of both hoses, even though on the left side the logo is hidden under the tower brace. I would definitely call them. They screwed up and should send you the correct pieces with free shipping.

Yes I think you are right. Both hoses have the HPS logo on both side of the hose. (two logo's a tube)

henry0844 02-20-2011 08:14 PM

my tubes came with hps logo on both sides too. they need to put the logo on one side, so if the tube is on the correct side the logo will show. I put the tubes on the wrong side then switched and they fit fine. there is a difference in the angle of the crankcase vent fitting. one angle is more acute than the other. if u match them to the stock tubes u will c the difference. hope this helps.

Yes I did match them up to the stock ones. Both HPS tubes look the same as in the pic. the stock one shows the crankcase vent fitting faceing in a down direction and the HPS is facing in a upwards direction.

henry0844 02-22-2011 03:57 AM

that stinks, I'm sure u waited a while to get the tubes too. I'm sure the company u got them from will take care of u.

I just ordered the tubes. Where is the cheapest place to buy the afe filters? And when I order the filters does it include two? Thanks

Red__Zed 02-23-2011 10:19 AM

I ordered mine from AutoAnything - I think about $100 for two. They come boxed in pairs if you look under 370Z specific air filters.

Does the filter available from Kraigen or AutoZone? I know they carried the K&N filters but not sure if they have it for 370Z

Mr. Q 02-23-2011 10:49 PM

If the AFE part# is 31-10173 then you get two in a package.

I do not think you are correct. Am pretty sure that is the single filter.

The dual filter package is 31-10196

cujo 02-26-2011 01:46 PM

Thank you Mr. Q and darrinps for this info.
I just called my local Autozone and they don't have this in stock. I checked Autoanything.com. Their part number is:33-2399/33-2399 for about $112. I will go with them since it's free shipping:)

Just ordered my set of tubes, are the AFE dry filters better than their oiled mesh filters? Their website states that the mesh oiled has a higher cfm.

To the best of my knowledge, the dry only outperform when they are caked with dirt.

That said, differences should be faily minimal either way.

cujo 03-02-2011 04:31 PM

but is it true that neither will perform as well as the original paper filder in terms of preventing the contaminants from entering your engine? I read some comments on U Tube and some people noticed a lot of durts entering their intakes...Could these people be the anti_K&N or the truth?

NYBladeZ 03-02-2011 09:15 PM

HPS tubes are on back order again, anyone know what the average wait time usually is?

No, I think that the major advantage of paper is that they are adequate on all fronts and inexpensive. I think the oiled cotton and synthetic medias all filter as well or better tho'.

Foam does a crappier filtration job, however. Flows well, tho'.

azn370z 03-14-2011 09:41 PM

Hey guys mine should be here tomorrow. I actually ordered 2 of these. I'm going to try selling it locally but if it doesn't sell then I will ship it out for $90 includes shipping.

chops 03-14-2011 10:16 PM

got mine and installed today. driver side took me 10min by taking off the entire intake, however the passenger side took me about 30min. the nismo strut bar's extra reinforcement makes it a complete b**** to get. i spent 20min wrestling with the tube to get it over the throttle body! however, after a while i finally started it up with no noticeable increase in sound, nor any SES lights...wooo!

too bad its raining, therefore no test drive for at least a week :\
