Dampening exhaust sound in garage. Need creative solutions!

@XwChriswX - Why didn't I think of that, duct tape is the solution for any problem.
I gotta go to home depot / lowe's and buy some wool, since I lost the last pieces I had.
I'm guessing the more wool = less noise.

Duct tape- Put it in your pocket save it for later. lol

LoL Nooo not Duct tape! It won't come off easily when you're done, get you some of the Blue Painters tape that has a easy to remove adhesive... That way you dont leave any residue on your tips.

The exhaust noise is predominately low frequency noise so is best attenuated using mass. The best solution would be to isolate a second set of panels by using damping that is effective for lower frequencies at temperatures your garage is typically at. Putting fiberglass/foam on the wall panels will help mostly with mid to higher frequency noise. If you are likely to buy some "acoustic panels" check the specifications to determine how much loss will occur in the 40-200Hz frequency range. If you were to back your car up slightly so that sound is not reflected back into your garage that would help quite a bit.

Install a drop ceiling with sound absorbent panels and perhaps a layer of sound deadening insulation above that, leaving a dead air space between the insulation and garage ceiling (tenants floor)....

Solutions:
1) Buy several boxes of duct tape and after rounding up all the stray cats you can find tape them to the ceiling... the melody of cat meows will put them back to sleeps. Also, the thickness and density of a cat is much greater than that of dynomat...

2) Keep your neighbor up all night until about 1-2 hours before you leave. by that time they will be so tired your car will be the last thing on their mind.

3) Sleeping pills... I hear they do the body good!

4) Ear Muffs buy them a set for Christmas.

5) Mount fur on the ceiling like in "get him to the greek" not only is it designer cool... its great when your high on Jeffery to calm you down
