your O2 sensors dont like the extra air flow, need to either one, get the sensor out of the air path i/e put an extender on the bung, or restrict what the sensors are reading, i/e steel wool stuffed into the bungs on the HFC's, the code will clear after it finishes its cycle, which seems to be 500-1000 miles, DO NOT take it into the dealer because modifying the cats is an illegal procedure and sure to kill your warranty. ESPECIALLY in texas, heres my suggestion, do what I did, throw some steel wool in the bung, clear the code, wait and see if it comes back, 99% of the time it wont.

yeah, get a bag of steel wool from your local hardware store, or wherever, get it up on a lift or jack stands, unscrew the O2 sensors from the bungs, stuff in just enough so that there is a slight resistance when screwing the sensors back in and let the CEL code finish its cycle, problem should be solved. And if you cant wait for the cycle to finish, run into an autozone and ask one of the techs if they can clear it for you.

I would check to make sure that you have the o2 sensors tight and securely plugged in before stuffin steel wool in there. If every thing is tight then you can try that.
I remember a few posts about CEL problems that were due to loose sensors.
The HFC have a spacer that is supposed to keep the sensor out of the gas flow to prevent CEL's. I have had them on my car for 3000 miles with no issues so far.

Oh, and Autozone told me that they are not allowed to clear the codes. My Saturn was acting up and I asked them to clear it and they couldn't. But you never know.

Check your gas cap.

Yeah man... STOP YELLING!.

Have you gotten gas since you installed your HFC's? If so, make sure your cap is tight and then disconnect your battery cables. Do the ol' pump the brake pedal twice and then reconnect everything. Drive around and if your light comes on again, then it's a O2 sensor problem. You can do the steel wool trick or do the antil fouler trick.

Damn. Got the SES light today. Went to autozone and the reader said evap leak. Got gas over a week ago but I checked the cap and it was tight. Doing a brief search I have found that this is a fairly common issue and I don't believe it was caused by the HFC's. I'll bring it to the dealer next week.
taikien, what have you found out with yours?

Anyone taken note of whether the steel wool filter / bung extender trick works better forthe '09's?

So far I've noticed that no one with a '10 seems to be able to keep the CEL light off -- wondering if there was a slight update in the ECU logic for cat efficiency...?

Some good advice by some of the members here (about steel wool). Give that a try and let us know
