What is the reason for most cars having the corrugated tubes, ease of fitment or does this help break up the air flow, kind of like how a spoiler will

What is the reason for most cars having the corrugated tubes, ease of fitment or does this help break up the air flow, kind of like how a spoiler will decrease drag. Maybe it increases the air flow, I'm no engineer, but it's not like it would be any more expensive for Nissan just to use smooth hoses there. Most vacuum cleaner hoses are corrugated, got to be a reason.
