On a NA car a straight flowing exhaust like ours you will lose some low end but should have a slightly higher end.
|
Yeah I think that's what happened, all in all I've made within 1-2% of the same amount of HP as Z's with intakes, pulleys, hfc's and a tested cbe with just LTH's straight piping and a tune. I love this piece, now if GTM can make it work with their S/C kit we're in the money.

Should know soon, just trying to get everything scheduled with Baker right now.

Just want to say, I spoke, at length, with Tony today about the FI LTH's and his CBE. Actually, wound up calling about 3 times as I thought of more ?s. What a great guy, he took the time to answer everything very honestly and straightforward.
Wound up placing an order for a set of ceramic coated LTH's and non-resonated CBE w/carbon fiber mufflers. Now the hard part, waiting till March. :excited: Thanks Tony! |
These headers are a great product. My power band from 5 to 75 is drastically different. I recommend these to everyone. My only problem I had was removing my air/fuel sensors from my factory manifolds. I dont know if they are heat welded or if it is a pull em out and your screwed type of deal with the factory warranty (lots of problems if you search with headers or going with a turbo set up). Anyway be very carefull getting these out. Get some PB Blaster and soak the hell out of them. After a half turn if it gets any tensions then stop and soak again. It will save you about $700 bucks!!!

On a brighter note, I am glad you are enjoying the headers. Do not hesitate to call me if you need anything... Thanks, Tony |

Almost caught up to the end! Are you planning on stopping production at 50 or so, I know how much you love making them lol

They are not that bad to build. Just very time consuming. Alot of steps in the build process. I hope to never have to stop the production process!!! |
Just out of curiosity... Is there a reason F.I. decided to not use the Hemholz resonators or have blued tips... ??

Has anyone experienced any excess noise since installing the headers. Seems to me that there is alot more noise coming from the engine compartment. Thinking I should install new header gaskets but just wanted to get an opinion. Yes the car is louder without cats but the noise I am trying to explain seems to be like an exhaust leak or somewhat. The factory gaskets were reused and were not damaged during the installation. I followed the instructions during install as well. (Torque bolts from center to out).

I only hear the noise at idle when im standing outside of the car. I can hear it from about ten foot away also. Kinda like a loud exhaust leak. The headers have only been on for about 100 miles so I will most likely retorque the bolts this week just to be sure.

Tony here are the vids from my run this past Sat. I know the audio sucks on the behind the car shots, next time I'll take them more from the side so not to catch so much pure sound. First 2 pulls are in 4th gear, the last one is in 5th gear, he cuts it off at 6500RPMs and I don't really know why, but oh well...
If you want just the front video's for marketing, let me know I can send them to you if you like. Final numbers: 283HP/230TQ My Mods: K&N Drop Ins COBB Post MAF Tubes F.I. LTH's F.I. CBE |
So Chris, what's your review of the headers? I'm about to order a set myself, and was wondering if the power gain is noticeable?
|
Quote:
Sound: 10/10 Gain: 9/10 Only reason I'm deducting points is cause you do lose some due to ECU compensation, but after getting a tune, which is next for me... you'll gain the full benefit of them. I would recommend them to anyone looking to fully open up their exhaust. The stock headers on the inside are pretty crappy. But I do notice a good response from the headers. I had my headers and CBE installed at the same time, so I can't say for certain if it's from the headers or CBE. But there is a noticeable gain. |
The only problem I encounter pertaining to ECU compensation seems to be in the 2-3k rpm area where some of the time I will lag a bit as though I need more fuel. Love them otherwise.

Kind of, but I was still highest numbers of the day, so it's not a total loss. I still need intake and pulleys, then a Tune and hopefully after that I should be right where I want to be. |
Did you have baseline numbers before the Fi install? A set of LTH are definitely next on my list of mods.
