F.I. 18" SS CBE

Need to go for Dyno, then tune, but Tune will prolly have to wait till after the holidays... I might try to go for a Dyno run next week. Maybe get a Pre-/Post-Tune Dynos...

I tell you what, I'll mod up my phone to record video tomorrow of just driving around so you can get an idea of In Car sounds... But won't be able to do much for Out of car until the GoPro gets here. My phone has a suction cup base for it, but I doubt it can hold @ speed like the GoPro LoL Wouldn't wanna lose a Droid X goin down the highway LOL!!!! :bowrofl:

Dan Z Man 11-07-2010 11:56 PM

lol! yeah i hear ya dude, that wouldnt be fun, but yeah cools sounds good to me :)

XwChriswX 11-08-2010 12:19 PM

 Ok so just got told that my GoPro is slated to be a Christmas present, not a Birthday (This Weekend) present...

Sooooooo yeeeeaaaahhhh... Definate downer. :( HD Vids will have to wait, I guess I can just use my Phone for now and take some sitting/cranking vids. But nothing in motion outside the car I'm afraid.

ahhh! i would be so *&%^$#@!!! lol..but hey, idk if you would want to, but i had made a video with my iphone, what i did was: set the phone up on the street( on the side, so no one runs it over lol) and this way you can go down the street a lil bit and take off a lil and it'll record from outside..

i did it like this, set it up, pulled away, turned around and drove past it, lol, so yeah, idk how you feel about leaving your phone outside but it's just an option ya know

I'd feel more comfortable about it if I had a safe sidestreet to do some aggressive runs down, but there really isn't any here in Phoenix. The getting it stolen part being a non issue of course, but then again... Phoenix :ugh2:. I'll see what I can do this afternoon.

Yeah, Droid X ftw lol

I'm uploading a cruising vid now, 6 mins of fun if you want. But I'll highlight the better parts of it also. Just to give you a feel of what general driving sounds like. I don't have any of floring it or fly by's due to not having a good place to do it at, but if I find one between now and then I will.

Here it is! Crusing tiiiiiiiime!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HvPNvR_azs

Here's a breakdown:

Cruising around at 45mph.

0:00 - Starting off with windows down.

0:40 - Windows Up

1:15 - Windows Down

2:30 - 5th/4th Downshift

2:50 - 4th/3rd Downshift

If you want to skip to the accelleration, skip ahead to 3:00. After that, it's more cruising so after about 3:30 you can turn it off.

I had to stop givin her gas when I hit 80 which was almost twice the posted speed limit LOL :bowrofl:

It sounds great! Thanks for getting the video up. I might use it on the website. Maybe you can send me a copy of it so I can break it up in to smaller videos...

Thanks, Tony

XwChriswX 11-09-2010 11:13 AM

Yeah, I wanted to do that, but MS Movie Maker wouldn't let me, I need to find some better video editing. And when I get the better cam I can take better ones for you. Let me know where you want me to send the file, it's rather large lol.

Good talking with you today Charles. I am glad we discussed it and I look forward to seeing what your car can do at the track. Keep me informed...

Anyone tried the FI LTHs with a NISMO exhaust? Power? Sound? Thinking about keeping my exhaust...

You will see a nice power and torque increase throughout but you will not utilize the full potential of the headers until a good aftermarket CBE is installed. As far as the sound, it will stay on the quieter side because the Nismo exhaust is not as free flowing as a good aftermarket exhaust. The only thing you might have an issue with is in the higher RPM's. If the stock exhaust cannot support the amount of flow that the headers free up, which I am confident that it cannot! This might lead to some rasp in those higher RPM's.

If you want our headers and can afford to spend the money it is worth it to try out. Worst case scenario you have to replace the CBE down the road. If that happens call me and I will get you setup with one of ours.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask...

Thank you, Tony

crash1369 12-01-2010 05:22 PM

 Holy Christwagons... I just read this whole thread, start to finish. Fast Intentions, I hate you now :rofl2: I was supposed to be saving money with this car :roflpuke2:

Anyway if you guys can bear with me, there seems to be some holes in this thread... or maybe it's my brain :tiphat: So I want to recap/ summarize.
It seems you can get similar numbers with the OEM header-manifolds, what ever they are considered and no cat's these headers off a much broader power band right?
On the same token it seems with the headers, if I read all of this correctly, a new intake doesn't add a whole lot of power right? I didn't see anyone say they changed their intakes after they put on the headers, looks like everyone is either still using the OEM intake or they already had an aftermarket. Do you guys still think it would be worth swapping, You would still get better throttle response, etc right? It seems the Stillen G3 causes the car to run a little lean with these headers? Otherwise the Injen intake seems to perform about the same right, and I suspect would help with the air/ fuel ratio? Or given the minimal gains is it not really even worth getting an intake like that, would I be better off with a more OEM/ shorter style (not sure of a specific one right now?) if it did not come at the expense of performance the lower cost would certainly be nice but more importantly they are much easier to install and service right, besides being better protected from water and other road debris? I don't even like the idea of having to pull my bumper off once just to install them, every time to change filters just seems crazy.

Additionally, can somebody (Tony?) send me the install instructions for these headers and I assume there are some for the exhaust as well?

crash1369 12-04-2010 02:45 PM

Nobody has anything to add here, Fast Intentions or otherwise?
