Default Rattle only at highway speeds

I've done numerous searches on this and couldn't find anything. This doesn't happen when I hit bumps. Only at highway speed going 50+.

It's a constant rattle coming from the rear right quarter panel area. Checked the spare tire and tools, popped off the rear hatch plastic and looked for loose cables, and tapped on things to see if I could find it.

It sounds like a wire tapping against metal but everything seems to be solid.

Has anyone else had this type of rattle that is constant and only at highway speed? My commute is 80% highway so this is driving me mad.

Search through the discussions, there was one fella that had this issue as well and figured it out. Some sort of wire tapping against the interior metal shield. I'll post a link if I find it later after work

Check your evap. canister; it's mounted there...also inner fender liner could be loose.

Make sure it's not coming from the rear hatch. If it's not tight when closed (common problem), it will emit a rattle at highway speeds due to wind pressure.

Try pushing down on your rear hatch just above the lock area. Is there any movement? If so, the lock mechanism may need adjustment or you may need to add some rubber spacers.

I thought it was also the hatch, however all rubber pieces are intact and ive even gone as far as putting a thick blanket pressed between the hatch and the truck area, same rattle, leads me to believe its behind the bumper

I added some rubber spacers where the rubber pieces attached to the hatch contact the trunk. It was raining today but it sounds like this may of reduced the rattle. Next step is adjusting the lock mechanism tomorrow.

Ummm....Pull the plastic off and make sure nothing is loose, also be carefully pulling things, some things break off if not done careful, also don't pay anyone to do it for you, there's a higher chance they will fvck ur shoot up.

Update: Found the rattle! One of the plastic clips on the gloss piece between the two side windows had broken so the top part was rattling against the car. Double sided tape did the trick. Still disappointing that a nicer car like this has an exterior part fail like that. Oh well, it is 5 yrs old after all.

I sometimes hear the little cargo loops rattling in the back when going over bumps at speed. Maybe that's what you're hearing?
