so a lot of people are saying not to do the impeller and 9 lb pulley. Is the general consensus that doing just the impeller is safe? What kinds of gains would the impeller upgrade make over stock SC kit?

We have about 20 hp more power reached only by the 928 impeller.
From 465 hp to 483 (not WHP). OEM at the beginning was "a Little" over 300 hp.....  I have only the diagram without impeller!
