The 3" and 3.5" in the article you linked are not like for like comparisons. They don't list what type of muffler was original on it with the 3". Also you can see that the newly fabricated 3.5" is more of a straight shot with less bends in it. More bends equals more friction. Although they don't address it, I'd bet they lost torque going to the larger exhaust.

I wouldn't get carried away with the fact that you 'only' made 509whp. Your numbers aren't much different than any of the other cars running a BP kit. For ex: jlo made 52Xish whp at 11.5.psi, that's about spot on where you are for a 11psi max and he's running a FI exhaust.

And then you thrown in all dynos are different and all tuners tune differently with different goals.
I agree with you. And I also agree with Sasha. 3 inch is fine, but I feel like there could be more efficient power that can be had. The guys with dual exhaust don't seem to be having any issues with torque. I know dyno comparisons should be taken with a grain of salt due to all the different variances that you can have. Its not that I'm looking for x amount of power, Im just looking for the best setup as far as single exhaust goes. Idk if any of that makes sense lol.

But not to derail the thread! My car makes great power on a single exhaust and sounds awesome. The BP kit is more than suitable to turn you beloved 370z into a little monster! If you are having reservations on purchasing this kit, DONT! The price, simplicity, and incredible performance you get out of this kit is unbeatable. This is my dyno sheet on 11psi and in 5th gear:
