Greddy and stillen? One cant make 500hp unless you redesign half the kit and the other is 9 fuckin grand for 18g's and piping.

Anyone can send a stock connecting rod (maybe $40?) to a manufacturer and have a set of rods made. Nobody has to have done it first. When you are ready, you just call them, and they just make it on the spot, and all is well. This is the way it is for many builds too, because lots of builders want custom specs. They dont have to wait for GTM to have ordered a batch first. There was never a day on earth that you could only get a VHR piston or connecting rod from GTM. That never happened.

The Greddy kit, said and done, didnt cost any more than the GTM kits of the time. The Greddy has gone up as the exchange got worse and because they didnt push it on the forums it wasnt popular. But it was there.

Aside from all that, pricing doesnt change the fact that it did, indeed, exist. Actually fit better too, and makes more power at lower boost. BTW they are 20g turbos not 18g.
