I feel really sorry for anyone still in this. |
GTM should be BANNED!
GTM Group Buy and similar threads should be a sticky for all Z and G enthusiasts to see. Apparently something similar of this tragedy has happened in the past...if the forums hadn't covered it up, 110 forum members would have been clearly aware of what they were getting into and avoided GTM completely. |
Consumer Complaints for GTM Motorsports - Central California BBB

Would anyone mind giving a recap of what has happened here for us newer members (who don't want to read through hundreds of old posts)? :o

People bought into it thinking it was almost done. GTM took peoples money. GTM kept giving different finish dates that was never fulfilled. GTM kept giving the same excuse that the cast for the piping were not done. People started to ask for refunds and GTM promised refunds but did not refund money. People are basically disputing the transaction through their credit card/bank after never receiving any finished product or refund. |
^
also customer service is non existant. |
Yup that's about it.
|
well for anyone still with GTM, they definitely have money issues, my credit card company has finally been able to tell me they are successful with a 3rd attempt today from the attemps they have tried to refund my money from the merchant.
once was done on the 11th, another time was tried on the 20th, and today about an hour ago it was successful so they tell me. 3 business days till it shows in my account apparently. good luck to anyone with money tied up! |
Holy hell I'm glad I never bought into this kit or anything from them. I feel sorry for anyone STILL trying to get their money back.
A certain person told me that they were run out of the 350 forums for the same garbage. |

either way I really don't care anymore, I'm just glad it's over with for myself, I still feel sorry for anyone tied up in this though or waiting on any other parts, a local tuner here in Aus has been waiting for engine parts for over 12 months, it's just crazy, I hope I never have to deal with GTM again. I've been boosted for couple months now with the stillen kit and it's great, I love it! I'm sure the turbo's would have been better and given me more room to move in the future if the motor pops in future, but might try some crazy high compression build with the kit + E85 if anything happens. This will do me until another car comes out I like or can afford a turbo porsche, either way ;) |
Im on week 15 trying to get my money back. Sam said it would be in the mail this week. Gonna call again today to make sure...
|
i feel like i could have had a nice chuck of all this money if i rounded everyone up and said for 25% i'll go break some legs and get it all back.

if you haven't already I'd suggest talking to whoever you do your banking with to ask about other methods of getting your money back. I didn't want to be missing out on money if the company went bust |
I miss the good old days when Sam would come on to dismiss and spin any negative GTM posts.. Sam, we miss you! Come back.
*edit* Booo. From his stats, it looks like he gave up on this place.. General Information Last Activity: 04-18-2014 01:50 PM Join Date: 12-14-2008 |

Why say we miss you????, Sam is a criminal and there is no coming back from this. He has screwed so many forum members with no remorse. |

I'm not here to try to bash GTM, but since there are many out there with GTM kits I wonder how do we go about getting replacement parts made for our cars or something that fits the existing kit.
I don't mind the existing Stage II as it stands, but maybe at some point I'll either overhaul the existings turbos or get new ones. So new ones might require a new manifold, which will probably be cracked by the time I take the turbos off. Plus, I'd like to get the 3" down pipes, too. Right now it's not financially feasible, but it's something I'd like to do down the road. |

Any you heard of this company? Maybe we can send them the existing manifolds to improve the design and have them cast us new ones.

I wish I could be wrong though. |
I wonder if they can use the existing manifolds to make the mold. It'll be a start. They can even get a hold of the turbos to test fit. Then test fit on a car to make sure it bolts on properly.
|
It should not be much of an issue these days you scan things, 3d print test for fitment then get it molded and made!!

Yep...i backward engineer things like that my self. |
I called treadstone a few years back and mentioned the 370z. They said if they had a test car, they would consider it if there was interest.
|
This is very good to know. If GTM doesn't pull through anymore with orders I might have to consider a different route: new or overhauled turbos, improved manifolds, 3" downpipes, external wastegates, etc., while re-using the existing kit. If this is something Treadstone can do, then we GTM owners will have a path.
So maybe for starters someone can send in their cracked manifolds if they still have them. Unfortunately, I can't really balance a house (living alone) and car hobby at the moment. As much as I toy with the idea of looking for a serious buyer, I have a difficult time letting go as well. [sigh] |
Just dropped my car off last week at aam competion in maryland for their new twin turbo setup. So far its been a great experience. Emailed back and fourth with max for about 3 weeks before i pulled the trigger. Max has answered all my questions. Gave me a tour of the shop. They have all their own cnc machines and pipe benders and weld everything in house. Pretty much everything is made there. Will keep you guys posted

any GTM TT people who may need parts in the future i'd say keep AAM and FI TT kits and parts in mind. both are great. |
Maybe you could buy the F.I. Manifolds and make those work with a little fabrication work?

Edit: I think CJ Motorsports made manifolds only but it's v-band |

We made a set of manifolds for our 350z, to put GTX3076R's on the side. They arent exactly available for order, although we could make more. These were about fitting really large turbos... probably larger than anyone else has put on the side of the VQ (rather than down below like most the big turbo VQs). These manifolds would be a pain in the *** for anyone wanting to install them to their GTM kit. Nothing would fit up correctly, and you would have to redo everything and buy new turbine housings.
If someone sent us the GTM manifolds, we could make bolt up replacements for them. Depending on how many people wanted them, and depending on what style, we could probably make a batch of them. Things to consider: More people (possible GB), brings costs down Fabricated has less upfront investment and less initial time involved than cast, but has higher individual costs unless the volume is REALLY high, which it wouldnt be. Fabricated ones stay just as hard to make forever, where castings are easy as pie once the expensive tooling is built and refined. Fabricated can be easily repaired by any welder if it ever cracked. Cast *can* be repaired, but nobody wants to do it or trusts it. Cast is able to produce nicer smoother runners in tighter spaces than fabricated reasonably can. Fabricated can make very nice smooth runners and collectors but takes more space to do so. We could also do a hybrid billet SS and fabricated manifold that would be SICK, but we would be looking at $$$. If someone sends me the GTM manifolds, I can put the flange relationships into CAD and then we could consider options if you guys wanted. |
If I were to do this all over again I'd get F.I. or AAM, but that's not the case. My only guess for switching to V-bands is to replace the exhaust housing. There are a few choices down the road:

Welp CZP cancelled the order they had with GTM for the waste-gate conversion kit I placed with CZP (and not GTM thank goodness). They hadn't heard a single word from Sam @ GTM since 7/17 (before that was constant pestering and some back and forth comms) and they are owed some turbo kits as well aside from the waste-gate kit.
So that's what came of that 5 month wait for that. Wish I had better news for the folks that have GTM orders. Probably end up having my builder just fab up the waste-gate kit off of pictures. Ah well. GTM can't even get a couple of pipes and waste-gates together in 5 months for $1,200 potential sale. |
