He's also one of the first if not THE first to have a blown engine, so I'm pretty sure he knows full well what this engine can/can not handle.

I know this is not a Honda vs Nissan discussion, but I just want to point out that a huge factor that contributes to the S2K being the beast it is on the track is due to its light weight and decent suspension setup. There's only so much 160lbft torque can do.

True, Its all about purpose built. The s2000's chassis is amazing! I owned one for 3 yrs all the way from stock to fully modified N/A monster. It would have been cheaper to go FI lol. However, because of the light weight the s2000 engine did not need 230ft/lbs of torque... but only 189ft/lbs which is what mine dyno'd at in stock form "AP2". It was purpose built and the car utilized it well! Alot of torque in the s2000 meant spinning out as the chassis was not designed for heaps of torque. The 370z being wider has the distinct advantage and the capabilities to be able to utilize gobs and gobs of torque

The s2000 used to eat up 350z's all day long on the tracks that had more turns than straight aways. but going to Roebling Roads or Road Atlanta those long stretches killed the S

Yes, Chris your right I blew the first stock motor on the forums but it was due to a factory default rod... thats all. I am in the same bucket as everyone else and strictly going on speculation at this point. I will however, leave the final decision up to sharif at forged since he knows exactly how much the VQ37 can handle in stock form as they have turbo'd the most VQ motors.

Do you have any specs of your build? I wanna see how all us TT guys will compare with different setups... This is much different than the 350z we have much more in terms of turbo options from the start thanks to vendors like GTM and AAM!

The F series Motor is very stout especially when you consider ppl are boosting and still running 8k+ RPM limiters! To say anything Honda makes is a waste is ignorant! I used to hate honda before I owned one and truely understood the capabilities of the s2000! I will bet you cant take your car to lil tally raceway and pull a sub 1:15 in your car. When my s2000 had just coilovers I was running 1:08's for very lil torque it does dam good! Now the 370z is just sick on the track! I was pulling 1:12's on my warmup laps in the monsoon rain! completely stock! But this isnt a thread on Honda or nissan but rather yet the limitations we see of the stock block. Now I am one of the first to be TT in this community and should have my car TT by the first of the year. We are expecting to run 500-550hp daily on the stock block.
Nothing ignorant about my post, If you look at a few posts earlier, I stated that I owned one, and did for 3 years, and was supercharged via Science of Speed. Made 320whp, but 220ft/lbs, the F22 does not make tq, plain and simple, and this is very important when accelerating through a turn. And yes, I realize its a good track car, but as stated earlier, this is because of its light weight and suspension, not the power, and they fail epicly at tracks with long straightaways. At Willow Springs recently, the stock 370 routinely posted better lap times than boosted S2k's, which is something to say. I will post the link when I get home from work. And while I agree that they are wolves in sheeps clothing at the track, If I had to go back and build a small agile car, I'd go with a Miata, and drop an LS1/LS2 in it.

Thanks, what options did you go with your kit? And is this for you or are you going to sell it as a package?

I did the same package as you, with some DeFi gauges in the center dash cluster, that's about the only difference. Not sure if you did the HKS BOV"s and have them recirculate?

Haven't decided yet, may try to sell it and see what happens, but it will be at the St. Louis Auto Show.

Well, torque and hp (power) are part of the same mathematical equation and you are forgetting the importance of gearing and the fact that the transmission works as a torque multiplier. At the end of the day, what really accelerates a car is transmission output torque!

What makes an s2k comparable in acceleration to, say, an older 350z is due to the ultra-high redline (ie. you can stay in each gear longer which makes for a faster acceleration) combined with appropriate gear ratios. Just keep in mind to ALWAYS downshift if possible (without going too near redline as you'd have to upshift again in a split sec). A lower gear is ALWAYS faster than a higher gear. The nature of a car's transmission.
