Er... I'm pretty sure the OP noted that he was taking his intercooler into account...

I am deployed again, so I have made no progress... Anyone can use my design... as long as if you sell it, I get a cut

How do the VIS hoods compare to Seibon in terms of quality and fitment? My one huge holdup on a CF hood is the damn pins. I think they are hideous.

Aerocatch. If you've got to use pins, they are by far the least visually offensive.

Fitment can be a tough call, I have a seibon and it was fine. Took the shop about an hour to fit it and line it up 100%. Many with the VIS hood have no problems either.
Also, you do not really need hood pins, as our cars have locks on it and, with the seibon, it has slots for all 3. Now if you get into road racing you might consider it as a safety requirement but not needed on the street.

I thought the issue was the locks pulling out of the slots over time from stress?

Probably so, but not unless you are really pushing the car like on a track.
Is an item to just add to the check list to check when you pop the hood and do an inspection.

Anyone know if the VIS has slots for all the locks?

I don't think the VIS does, since their marketing material mentions hood pins. What I like even better than the looks/functionality of the Aerocatch is the QuickLatch: Low Profile

have you tired to see if Alex and the guys at Autokits X make a AK hood. My fitment was 100% and they use the stock equipment.

oh, and the fitment is darn near perfect. Slight gap near the hinge on the drivers side but I think I can massage that away.

Whos hood is that?? That's Autokits hood?

i'm going on a guess, but the vis should also have the bolt holes to transfer the 3 latches like my seibon did. The reason why they say hoodpins are a must is prob for liability reasons.

On my seibon Ts hood I did install hood pins but was going too ended up selling it. I tested it at 155mph for a total of about 1-2 hrs total no issues. And 140's also no problem at the track, but I always felt uncomfortable not having the pins on, so when I order the VIS I'll install aerocatch latches or similar.

That is what I always told, on the street it should be fine though there are stories of people having problems. Though for the track and safety it is worth the look to jump over to hood pins for safety & security.

That's my JP-R hood from Exteme Dimensions. Very good fit overall but a small height issue at the back hinges that the bodyshop says they can fix. It goes in Monday for paint...
