Isn't this the second motor only that has let go?
Werent they both on stillens?
Kind of an odd question since the Stillen SC is not on the high end of the power equation. I'd understand if we were talking about a 600whp TT...

My question is has the tune been altered when boost is varied between 8-12lbs

And 12, imo, is in the upper range of what I would consider a reliable setup with stock internals. Maybe you are lucky, who knows. All We know for sure is that someone else had rod failure at the same boost that you are running.

Someone also mentioned another failure, I wonder what boost he was running...

The amount of boost that's safe to run varies based on what is making the boost, right? 12 psi on a Stillen sc isn't the same airflow as 12 psi on a turbo kit. Maybe we need to look at cfm rather than boost.

No, 12 psi out of something that doesn't flow a lot of air is very different than 12 psi out of a huge compressor. If you blow 12 psi through a cocktail stirrer, you're moving a lot less air than 12 psi through a garden hose.

Only if you can produce the air to fill that garden hose

To hopefully put some help into this talk about boost pressure. GTM told me it does not really matter what boost you run as long as you AFR and cylinder pressure is in check. Every motor is different so with that in mind if you are comfortable hitting your max cylinder pressure, do it.

It has been close to a year since I talked with them and don’t remember what their comfort zone is for the pressure. You would have to contact them or someone that knows more than I do.
