I have had customers use the Boost Controller as their gauge in the past, however I prefer a gauge which is on the pillar and much easier to see during a pull.

As far as electronics failing, I have yet to have such an issue with quality aftermarket components, however I have see vac/boost reference lines blow off components due to improper installation.
