Default Engine Build Components

I am seeing more & more threads pop up pertaining to engine build ideas, components, or just interest. This thread will be used to help bring together components on the market currently, future if acknowledge by the manufacture. Have to thank DIGItonium on starting this thread, link, to get the ball rolling on some general discussion. Below are components you may need as your quest for more power, performance, or other increases.

Website Sources & Catalogs:
Stroker Kit:
4.2L (VQ35HR & VQ37VHR) - Link
  • GT Motorsports® Hi-Rev Crank :96 mm stroke
  • GT Motorsports®-spec Arias®/Wiseco® Stage II FI pistons
  • GT Motorsports® Rods
  • Bore: 96mm (optionally 100mm bore with Darton MID sleeves)
  • Final Displacement (exact): 4.2 L
4.5L (VQ35HR & VQ37VHR) - Link
  • GT Motorsports® Hi-Rev Crank :96 mm stroke
  • GT Motorsports®-spec Arias®/Wiseco® Stage II FI pistons
  • GT Motorsports® Rods
  • Bore: 96mm (optionally 100mm bore with Darton MID sleeves)
  • Final Displacement (exact): 4.5 L
4.07L (VQ35HY & VQ37VHR) - Link
  • BC 4340 forged steel crankshaft (86.4mm stroke - VQ35HR, 92mm stroke - VQ37HR).
  • BC 4340 Sportsman or Pro Series (BC625+) connecting rods featuring ARP premium fasteners.
  • CP or JE aluminum forged pistons (any bore size, any compression ratio).
  • 5100 Series carbon steel alloy wrist pins. 9310 Series pin upgrade avail.
  • Ductile iron plasma top rings, tapered second ring, low tension oil rings.
  • Fully system balanced and ready to install.

Crankshaft:
4.5L Billet Crankshaft - Link
  • This new crank shaft is constructed from the same 4340 chromoly high-tensile steel alloy billet and hardened/tempered for a target tensile range of at least 930-1080 MPa (135,000-157,000 psi), incorporating 0.40% of carbon, proven to provide the highest degree of tensile, compression, and sheering strengths. The 87.0mm stroke affords a major advantage; it can be dropped into an unmodified (i.e. unsleeved) block with no need for longer sleeves (that have to be notched to preserve the oil jets), as is the case with the 90mm stroke crank. In this Hi-Rev iteration of the crank, two key improvements were made: lowered weight and, most notably, optimized oil passages.

Coating & Treatment:
Complete Coating Services - Link
  • CT-1 Bearing Coating - Dry film lubricant that is technically engineered to withstand extreme performance pressure. Using CT-1 coated engine bearings increases horsepower and efficiency, extends bearing life and protects your investment.
  • CT-2 Piston Top Coating - Ceramic "turbo coating" that reduces oil temperatures 15 to 30 degrees by containing heat in the combustion chamber and exhaust ports.
  • CT-3 Piston Skirts Coating - Dry film lubricant that retains oil while reducing friction and heat. The CT-3 Coating allows for the use of tighter clearances without scuffing, resulting in less blow-by increased horsepower and less wear on cylinder walls and piston rings.

Piston Surface Treatment - Link
  • This is a surface treatment, not a coating and unlike a coating, does not wear off. This involves firing microscopic particles at the surface of a part at extremely high speeds. The impact of the particles does several things. First, it generates a small amount of heat that permanently changes the surface of the part, making it harder and more durable. The second thing it does, is create tiny dimples in the surface and removes the microscopic ridges and imperfections in machined surfaces.

Spring & Retainer:
  • Spring & Retainer Upgrade - Stage 1 Valve train upgrade. Includes springs, Ti retainers: Link
  • Spring Valve train Upgrade - Stage 1 Valvetrain upgrade. Includes springs, Ti retainers, locators, and GTM High Performance stock size valves: Link
  • Spring 1.0MM Oversize Valve train Upgrade - GTM Valve train upgrade includes springs, Ti retainers, stem seals, intake and exhaust valves: Link
  • Spring 1.5MM Oversize Valve train Upgrade - GTM Valve train upgrade includes springs, Ti retainers, stem seals, intake and exhaust valves: Link

Also made out of high quality ARP 2000 material. These head studs can be torqued up to 100 ft. lbs. of torque! Maching of the head and block is required for installation: Link
  • ARP L19 11MM - ARP's L19 material is a premium steel that is processed to deliver superior strength and fatigue properties. L19 is a very high strength material compared with 8740 (standard ARP headstuds) and is capable of delivering a clamp load at 260,000 psi. It is primarily used in short track and drag racing applications where inertia loads exceed the clamping capability of ARP2000. Like most high strength, quench and temper steels - L19 requires special care during manufacturing to avoid hydrogen embrittlement. This material is easily contaminated and subject to stress corrosion. It must be kept well-oiled and not exposed to moisture. These head studs are a direct replacement from your OEM head studs and require no further machinng of the block or heads: Link

Pistons:
  • CP Pistons - CP pistons are compatible with oversized valves and high lift camshafts. Part numbers ending in a “X” are on a X-style forging for additional strength, durability and weight reduction. The X-style has a full radius dome design, high performance rings and light weight wrist pins. CP Pistons represent the highest quality and is engineered for maximum power. Pistons can be ordered with gas ports, skirt coating, ceramic top coating, and stronger wrist pins if desired. Cometic head gaskets also available: Link
  • Arias Extreme Duty Pistsons - Made from zero-silicon aluminum forging, and are designed to have the highest heat and deformation resistance. They utilize buttons instead of spring locks, providing additional support. These GTM® pistons are the first to integrate a gas expansion groove between the two ring grooves, allowing additional small, yet critical, volume for gas expansion. The piston also incorporates a slightly taller than usual design, with longer skirts to minimize movement and vibration. Sold in set of 6 pistons. Rings, Buttons, and Pins are all included: Link

Rods, Sleeves, and Bearing Set:

Rods:
  • Connecting Rod Set - Designed in-house, and manufactured from 4340 billet chromoly steel. This material was chosen for this setup over titanium due to longevity, and over a regular forging due to the added strength. Each rod weights 480 grams, and is tested to withstand an equivalent of 1700ft-lb of torque on a 6cyl engine. This unique design allows for an unprecedented compression force/weight ratio, making it the most thoroughly designed and most suitable rod available for the VQ35HR/VQ37VHR: Link
  • CP Rods - Carrillo uses proprietary chrome, nickel, moly, vanadium alloy which meets all VAR (vacuum arc re-melt ASTM standards). The heat is validated, both by the supplier and an independent metallurgist whom confirm the desired physical and chemical properties of steel. All heat treat processes are via a mar-aged operation, resulting in UTS of 195,000 with a yield of 182,000 while maintaining the critical elements of low notch-sensitivity and ductility. All Carrillo connecting rods are manufactured from an oversized forging resulting in the proper grainflow as well as the surface removal of any potential inclusions or surface conversions generated by the forging process. All critical CNC machines at Carrillo are equipped with probing to accurately validate dimensional integrity. In the production process each part is magnafluxed at least twice, further each piece is Rockwell tested to validate the heat treat procedure. A final shotpeen operation completes the part: Link
  • K1 Rods - Forged 4340 Steel I Beam connecting rods. Shot peened for improved fatigue life. Sizes held to +/- .0001” , finish honed in the USA. Bronze wrist pin bushings. Weight matched +/- 1 gram on each end. Exclusively using ARP fasteners.Billet 4340 Steel H Beam connecting rods. Closely monitored material mechanical properties for optimum performance. Designed and finish honed in the USA. Sizes held to some of the tightest tolerances in the industry, +/- .0001” and +/- 1 gram per end. Shot peened for improved fatigue life. Bronze wrist pin bushings. Exclusively using ARP 2000 fasteners. Link
  • Eagle Rods - Eagle H-beam connecting rods are forged from SAE 4340 steel for superior strength. 3/8" ARP 2000 bolts and alignment sleeves are used for durability and precise cap location. Sets are weight matched to +/- 1g. Sizing is performed on the unique Sunnen Krossgriding system for perfect housing bore. These are the perfect choice for engines up to 900HP (4 cylinder) or 1500HP (6 cylinder). Link

Sleeves:
  • Darton M.I.D. Sleeves - This kit will allow you to go from a standard bore of 95mm to a max bore of 100mm handling high boost and high compression. The kit is perfect for all applications whether it be full race, turbo, N/A or for those weekend warriors with street/strip cars. This kits shares all the same patent pending designs in the M.I.D. line. George Iannou said it himself " I feel that the VQ35 Nissan engine will be the future of the import drag racing Pro-segment in 2005, its power potential is unmatched." Darton being the leaders in sleeve designs agrees that the VQ35 will play a huge part in racing in the year to come and with this new kit its power potential becomes even better: Link

  • Fuel Pump Voltage Stabilizer - We found that the 370Z and G37 encounter problems where the voltage drops significantly through the small gauge factory wires to the fuel pump. Our GTM Fuel Pump Voltage Stabilizer Kit not only replaces the puny factory wires with a heavier gauge, it provides a dedicated circuit to ensure that your fuel pump gets the voltage necessary to keep your car running optimally all the time. Remember, stable fuel pump voltage means stable fuel pressure: Link
  • Fuel Starvation - Designed to eliminated fuel starvation while running less than full gas tank: Link

Miscellaneous:
  • Vented Fender Liner - GTM is proud to offer our Vented Fender Liner for the 370Z. This is an effective measure to increase the cooling effectiveness of a side mounted oil cooler as used in our supercharger supplement engine oil cooler kit. The louvered vents are positioned ideally for the supplement kit and allows air to be sucked through the oil cooler more effectively by the low pressure generally found in the wheel well at speed: Link
  • GTM 70mm Radiator - GTM is proud to offer an aluminum racing radiator for the 370Z/G37 powered by the VQ37VHR motor. Because the stock engine is capable of supporting more horsepower than its predecessor, the cooling system needs to be addressed when making substantially more power than stock. The GTM 70mm radiator is capable of dissipating more heat as well as having a higher capacity for coolant. This allows high horsepower cars to compete in endurance racing on a road course where the stock radiator would be overloaded. On extreme power cars (1,000bhp+) dedicated to drag racing, the extra capacity of the racing radiator enables the car to store additional heat that can be dissipated as the car is returning from a pass: Link
  • CSF Radiator - CSF Radiators has taken many steps to improve upon the stock radiator design and to increase the radiator’s cooling ability. Unlike the OEM radiator core, which is only 12mm thick, the CSF radiator core is now a massive 30mm thick. The Radiator’s end tanks were also addressed, further increasing the radiators capacity. Through the usage of CSF’s B-Tube technology, the internal design of the radiator’s cross flow tubes have been designed to further increase efficiency and strength. This reinforced design not only allows for the usage of a lighter, thinner aluminum material, but also increases the total surface area an additional 15%: Link
  • Mishimoto Radiator - The Mishimoto 370Z aluminium radiator has been proven to reduce temperatures by 40º F and offers increased capacity over the stock unit. Crafted from high quality aircraft aluminium, the Mishimoto 370Z radiator is precision TIG welded for durability and longevity. The Mishimoto 370Z radiator also includes a built in AC condenser.
  • Greddy High Capacity Oil Pan - Greddy High Capacity Oil Pan upgrade kit for the Z33 VQ35HR and Z34 VQ37HR comes with two metal baffle doors that keeps the oil from moving around during hard cornering. There is also an extra port for an oil temperature sensor: Link
  • GTM High Capacity Oil Pan - An oil pan replacement which increases oil capacity to 8 quarts with an availabler fallying system to help oil control during extrememe driving conditions. Also has pre-tapped for two 1/8" BSPT ports for fittings or sensors along with oil return lines. Designed for forced induction or N/A cars, along with 2012+ 370z with factory oil coolers. Link
  • Polyurethene Motor Mounts - The soft rubber stock mounts flex excessively and in a tight engine bay, this can cause some components to rub when the engine is producing peak torque. In addition, when the stock mounts flex, they are effectively absorbing some of the torque produced by the engine. Get that torque to the wheels with stiffer polyurethane motor mounts! You will also find the car to be more responsive to throttle input with these new mounts, making it easier to maintain traction with good pedal modulation: Link
  • Aluminum Motor Mounts - Both lighter than stock and much more compact, these solid aluminum motor mounts are available at a fraction of the cost of New OEM Nissan Motor Mounts. Cars equipped with solid motor mounts take advantage of the added structural rigidity realised by making the engine an integrated part of the uni-body/sub-frame: Link
  • Traction Control -
  • GTM Fan Shroud Kit - GTM Radiator Shroud To Be Used with the Stock OEM Fans and For GTM 70mm Radiator , This kit comes with everything needed to be installed on your vehicle. Since we designed this kit to be the same depth as the stock housing there will not be any modification needed to fit this kit on your car regard regardless of F/I kit. Additionally this kit has been confirmed to fit with the CSF Radiator. Link

Engine Management:
  • Uprev - Is engine software management which functions by re-flashing the ECU to change parameters in the ECU to fit your tuning requirements. From options as just data logging to full dealer & user tuning options, this software can help you reach your goals while staying N/A or even forced induction. Link
  • EcuTek -

Yeah, figured someone would notice that.
I have been digging around & some manufactures have not updated their websites yet to include 3.7L parts, and GTM has provided much of info and details so I am linking to them. Also they include prices which others do not.

I have removed most GTM mentions other than their own parts to be fair.
