So that part of the manual we can skip...the drilling of the oil pan that is.

Also it was stated that you will not need to drop the motor.

They're selling between 3 and 4 thousand a year bro, at least back in 09-11. Not sure they're still selling that many.

In 2012 there was estimated to be just over 10000 cars TOTAL.

Car is still pretty rare, in the grand scheme of things.

if let's say nissan simply adopted this kit and everything is left the same for the 370z for their next gen... would you be disappointed?

This is what so impressive about how GTM has approached this FI offering.. it simply could have came from factory imo... I would definitely buy it over the toyobarus, stangs, and whatever sub $40K sportscar that are coming out the next year or so...

I don't think Nissan is interested in turbocharging the 370z. That would mean additional costs in equipment and trying to keep the engine cool, which is something they barely did with USA spec cars (mexican market 370z don't come with oil cooler).

If Nissan had left this subject to Nismo, I think their price would be somewhere in heaven as their aftermarket parts are.

Nissan simply stayed away from this business since the 350z.
It would be nice to discuss this in a specific thread.

Thanks GTM for bringing us a solution

Correct. No drilling of the pan required with the MHI kit since it comes with its' own pan that has integrated oil returns.

Default GTM Visit

I stopped by GTM today to get a tour of their facility and find out more about their new MHI turbo kit. Sam showed me the equipment they use for the in-house fabrication all of their various parts. He also popped the hood on their demo car (the 370z with the 18g kit installed on it) so that I could see the kit up close. He answered all the questions that I had regarding the MHI kit.

Sam then offered me a ride in the demo car. All I can say is...wow! That car is a beast! It drives just like a normal car at low rpms, but when you really get on the gas, it's a whole different story. The car slams you back into your seat and just takes off. Don't get me wrong; the car was never rough or jerky. Even though the kit throws you back into your seat, the power delivery is still very smooth and precise. I was also surprised by the responsiveness of this kit. There was very little, if any, turbo lag. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed.

Thank you Sam and Mike for taking time out of your day to answer my questions and showcase your new turbo kit. I'm excited to be on the Group Buy and I'm definitely looking forward to having one of these kits installed on my car.
