I don't think Nissan is interested in turbocharging the 370z. That would mean additional costs in equipment and trying to keep the engine cool, which is something they barely did with USA spec cars (mexican market 370z don't come with oil cooler). If Nissan had left this subject to Nismo, I think their price would be somewhere in heaven as their aftermarket parts are. Nissan simply stayed away from this business since the 350z. It would be nice to discuss this in a specific thread. Thanks GTM for bringing us a solution ![]()

I stopped by GTM today to get a tour of their facility and find out more about their new MHI turbo kit. Sam showed me the equipment they use for the in-house fabrication all of their various parts. He also popped the hood on their demo car (the 370z with the 18g kit installed on it) so that I could see the kit up close. He answered all the questions that I had regarding the MHI kit.
Sam then offered me a ride in the demo car. All I can say is...wow! That car is a beast! It drives just like a normal car at low rpms, but when you really get on the gas, it's a whole different story. The car slams you back into your seat and just takes off. Don't get me wrong; the car was never rough or jerky. Even though the kit throws you back into your seat, the power delivery is still very smooth and precise. I was also surprised by the responsiveness of this kit. There was very little, if any, turbo lag. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed. Thank you Sam and Mike for taking time out of your day to answer my questions and showcase your new turbo kit. I'm excited to be on the Group Buy and I'm definitely looking forward to having one of these kits installed on my car. |

As far as what I saw, once the car has been put back together post-install, many of the kit's components are hidden from view. All you really see are portions of the piping. If you opted for the black powdercoated piping, this would be a pretty stealthy install. To get an idea of where some of the components are mounted, check out the pictures that GTM posted at the beginning of both this thread and the "TD05 16g test results" thread. |

I didn't see these questions get asked in this thread and if it was, I'm sorry in advance for missing it...
* Does this kit require any type of welding? Once I had a GReddy turbo kit on a different car and I had to get the BOV mount TIG welded to the pipe. Not a big deal, just curious. * Is it possible to see the install documents? I like to get a better understanding of what I'm getting into with your kit before committing. Based on your other install guides, I'm very impressed; it's in color! I'm not used to that, haha. * Since this is water-cooled, how does it source, tapping into the radiator piping? I like the provided oil pan with it integrated so that's great if I read that correctly. I think that's more reliable than the adapter kind that's 'piggy-backing' the oil drain bolt. * I've never dealt with a water/oil cooled turbo. What's the life expectancy of these turbo seals compared to the standard oil cooled ones? * Are there any other factory hosing or wiring that I need to be concerned about post installation from being too close to the hot side of the turbo housings and piping? I tend to wrap any in heat reflectors so I'm just checking! * Are the BOVs negotiable in type even if paying the difference? It might be weird to some but I'm particular about the sound, chirping, or whatever. I don't like attracting attention. * Is the oil cooler you sell (Item # GTM-00115-03-19M) fully compatible to this kit? Thanks in advance! |

you will not have to tap the oil pan so ignore that part. No welding etc. Just go through the install manual and you should get a good idea. You will need to buy and oil cooler and plugs. You also have the options of an internal or external waste gates. Go through some of the earlier posts. This should get you at least started. |

Yes from what Mike has told me you will not need to drop the motor, weld, cut, or modify anything. He is currently working on the manual and said as soon as he has it be will distribute it. From what I've gathered the hardest thing is taking off the stock headers.
