Thx very much guys for the insight.
A statement from Sam/Mike would be helpful as to whether there is still hope for the MHI kit or not. I wouldn't mind waiting as I still have a little saving up to do ;-)

But obviously, if there was no hope for GTM I'd be looking for alternatives (for RHD that is)

...Actually thx for pointing that out m8, I wasn't aware there'd be a difference btw LHD & RHD.

Cheers

It will come out eventually, i dont think that anyone is really questioning that. The delay isnt really even that rediculous yet its just that GTM's communication is sorely lacking which opens them up to all sorts of attacks whether accurate or not. I've waited way longer for cars parts in the past after being told that they wouldnt take long so its not something unexpected to those who have been down these roads before. **** happens, its how you deal with it that matters and ynfortunately GTM havent dealt with it very well at all which is a real shame.

GTM are the only ones that I could find that have supplied bolt on kits for RHD vehicles and can guarantee that they will fit. Its a shame that the other kit developers arent big enough (yet?) to take on the extra costs of testing for RHD's. They might find that the required changes to their kits are very minimal, who knows. I wouldnt want to be the guinea pig thousands of miles away though :P

You could always take a chance and get a local shop to make any required modifications but that could lead to all sorts of issues down the track i guess.

Ah well, that sounds all right then. I definitely stay tuned and watch out for the MHI :tiphat:

Best wishes

I think a lot of vendors are guilty of posting "release" or similar threads well before the products are actually ready. Perhaps the moderators could develop some rules for forum sponsors so as to not unintentionally mislead folks. In my opinion, there should be no "release" thread until a product is on the shelf and ready to be sold. For example, this thread is really more of a "development" thread and/or group buy pre-sale thread. Just look at how much has changed since post #1. I think this may also help to set expectation levels for all the eager gear heads running around here.

16 days since last update...what's the current status on the delayed parts?

m3chhawk 01-02-2014 01:48 PM

Sam logged in to the boards on the 30th and didn't give a status update, so that effectively is your status update...

Mkai0 01-02-2014 04:25 PM

Yes, it has been a bit of a headache, Especially with the wife not being too happy about it...

20 days! Wow hopefully you will not have to get any creditors or lawyers involved that's a lot of money. That needed to be refunded asap even with all the ropes you have to jump through with the banks and what not 20 days and counting is outrages.

You make some very good points and suggestions which I agree with as I have seen this strategy used by many vendors. I think many vendors use this pre-release strategy with a group buy to generate a source of income to continue doing research on a future marketing program such as was done here. It is clear from the many posts that GTM is continuing its research program which may or may not be in the final stages of development. I was very interested in this project but took a wait and see position and am glad I did.

Yes. This might be very true. Overall, I hope when the product is in the final release stage, it should be rock solid and the vehicle will run like factory made twin turbo with no trouble. I know it is very annoying to have to wait this long, but in a sense it is worth it to me. I hope this MHI TT product will be a real good and a reliable product by the time it comes to our hands for those who are still willing to wait.

Conmam,

Have you fully paid for your TT MHI kit?

Don't order the GTM kit. I can't find the link right now, but they just use another relay kit that is $35-$40 retail, add a fuse holder, and sell it for $70.

I am going to buy the stuff to do the relay today and will do a DIY write-up for it in the next couple of weeks.

I agree GTM made very good parts, but their customer service is the worst. I tried to call and email about some parts I needed and the only response I got was "send us an email of parts you need and we will send you an inquiry for them". So, i sent them the list of parts I need with gtm's part numbers TWICE for the last 3 weeks and have not get anything in response yet. :shakes head: At this point, there is no doubt I will not buy amything from GTM even they manage to get these turbo kit ship out. Just thinking about all the additional parts, questions, e-tunes... I will need from GTM during the installation of these kit give me a BAD headache. :eekdance:

No I have not. I am still building up my savings for this kit. I addition to that, there are SO MANY other things that need to be properly modified in order to reliably accommodate this future 500whp on my Z. Believe me, those costs are at least the same or more than this kit. Got to work hard for this my friend.

Mkai0 01-05-2014 03:25 PM

Believe me, I know what you mean. I jumped the gun bought all supporting mods, pistons, rods, etc, and paid for the kit in full. Six months later the kit still wasn't ready, and I had a family emergency to deal with, so my plans changed. Learn from some of us and actually wait until this kit is out before you start dropping some serious dough on it. As I'm sure you know, a few people who were in this group buy got fed up and even bought new cars! The more you invest and longer you wait, the more you get pissed off. Funny how that works..
