I have been kicking around the idea of doing a remote oil cooler, possibly with fan, perhaps in the space left by losing the OEM exhaust and going to FI. Basically like a diff cooler, but cooling engine oil instead. I think the length of oil lines themselves would probably add a quart or more to the total system. I am just not convinced that packing more coolers into the crowded front of the car is the best solution. I know it is working for people, but I am always trying to think of cool new things to do. I think the side mounted oil coolers + Stillen or Zele bumpers or the like would also work well, but with OEM bumper it's tough to get adequate flow.
I am jealous of the G37 guys that have the larger grill and can put a cooler up above the radiator that gets direct airflow. I wonder if the panel right above the radiator opening on the Z could be designed with, e.g., NACA ducts to get some direct cooling flow to a cooler mounted in a similar position on the Z.
