I was underwhelmed at the "Outstanding bang for the buck" statement at 'just' 380whp. $9,000 for @ 80whp?

That said, I know how quickly the value can increase. It is proportional to the boost PSI ....

380 whp was on the the Dyno jet off the base tune STs gave me , then I took the car home and got it customed tuned on a mustang Dyno at a different shop and it made like 380 and a bit and 320 ish tourque this mustang Dyno is know to read lower then the dynojet in town he figures I'm around 410 and 340 on the Dyno jet, so yes I stand by my statement in best bang or your buck , Idk where your getting 80 hp gain from, even from the base tune Imade over 100 whp gain :s

The thing with mustang dyno's is it depends on how the operator calibrates the dyno. I know of two in the North East that read high.

Dyno Jet's are different there calibrated from the factory.

There's just too much manipulation that can go on with a dyno.

1/4 mile trap speed will tell the tale where power is concerned. Doesn't matter if you spin off the line or whatever, the MPH will still be right in the ball park.

With street tires my Challenger spins like mad and I have to avoid boost until 3rd gear. I'll run 12s at 123-125MPH.

With drag radials I get traction and get in to the boost right out of the gate. My ETs drop to mid 11s, but MPH is still 123-125.

Your happy with your results thats what matter's most. When you get use to the power ,and you will then turn it up with a boost controller.

I consider myself pretty lucky as my stock clutch is holding up just fine for where my power is right now. Any more though and it wouldn't last long.

Blackonorange, glad your car is running better and welcome to the boosted club.

Yes your lucky my stock clutch was slipping at high rpms when I was racing . My car only had 3500 miles at the time I could get only 2-3 good runs before it got hot and would slip .

blackonorange 04-07-2012 02:02 PM

welp i went to the dark side and bought some test pipes so hose of you that were worried about the cats going through the turbo can rest easy now:driving:

Mr.Squeeze 04-07-2012 03:21 PM

That's the mod bug for you good choice .

Dzel 04-07-2012 07:15 PM

Are you gonna keep your tune where it is?

blackonorange 04-07-2012 07:21 PM

Ill see if it changes the tune but if it needs adjusting I will get it done

pheew! good choice.. knoq you might need to add resonators if it gets too raspy lol.

Dzel 04-07-2012 07:30 PM

Ron do you have 2.5" exhaust or 3

Ron 04-07-2012 07:38 PM

3"

The test pipes are resonated but I might add another in the y pipe

blackonorange 04-08-2012 09:18 PM

I also need a clutch what are you FI guys running for clutches and flywheels?

O&G 04-09-2012 07:33 PM

<<< Using an ACT six puck clutch rated to 550wtq and JWT flywheel.

blackonorange 04-09-2012 09:04 PM

How loud is the flywheel?

O&G 04-09-2012 09:20 PM

car sounds like a diesel truck, lol...... it's not bad, I've heard way louder on other Z's.

Noise < Performance

blackonorange 04-09-2012 09:27 PM

You usin stock Csc?

O&G 04-09-2012 09:32 PM

No, mine didn't go out but I changed it! Better off changing it all at one time, rather than roll the dice and waste $400 plus on another clutch install.

blackonorange 04-09-2012 09:38 PM

You have the z speed one?

O&G 04-09-2012 09:46 PM

I bought mine from GTM but Joe @ ZSpeed said they supply GTM w/ the CSC, so yes I do. Be sure to ask Joe or GTM if you need to use the included "sleeve" w/ your clutch/flywheel combo.

blackonorange 04-09-2012 09:53 PM

Thank you for your info !

O&G 04-09-2012 09:54 PM

 No prob! Goodluck!

Never having a boosted car in general but specifically a high HP one that requires an aftermarket clutch, I dont quite understand what this means (newb ?). How do you feel your clutch "reacting" to the power and know if it's going out or needs to be replaced with aftermarket? Thanks guys

if you are in gear press your gas and it just revs it is time for a new clutch as it is no longer doing the job it is supposed to do.

clutches can only hold an amount of power once that power level is over their rating they will slip and not transfer the power to the wheels.

Dallaz 04-12-2012 02:33 PM

^^ thanks I figured there would be a big indication as far as how it would react, that was exactly what I needed to know. Pretty sure about going FI in the near future and it's threads like this one that are getting me closer and closer to pulling the trigger with all the great info coming from people first hand. Great build BlackonOrange and congrats on your numbers!

When I drive the car hard ( like your supposed to ) the clutch heats up , when I punch it or launch the car it's smokes and my RPMs hit redline like as fast they would if you were free wheeling , you'll know as soon as it happens , not to mentions it smells like burning lol, Anyways I think I'm gonna with the act clutch and flywheel

blackonorange 04-12-2012 08:41 PM

Other guys with the STs kit, you Guys ever run with your air filter cover off? And does it make a difference?

Chinook 04-12-2012 11:37 PM

I never use the rain sock, the filter is covered pretty well by the shield. However I don't usually drive in the rain much. And I am currently using JWT clutch and flywheel and have not experienced any problems, seems to be holding up pretty good.

blackonorange 04-12-2012 11:53 PM

What's your afrs at at wot

Chinook 04-13-2012 06:16 AM

I am just in the process of moving my sensor to behind the turbo as recomended by sts. I also just installed water/meth last weekend and am waiting to get a tune, sounds like hopefully by mid may I should be all ready I will let you know as soon as I can. When I pulled the rain sock off it seemed pretty restrictive but I honostly don't know if I noticed much of a difference, it's been a while.

Well it's weird, now that we've thought about it it's spitting oil out the back , so we've come to the the conclusion it's a seal in the turbo, the weird thing is that It threw a service engine light :s, would Low oil pressure throw this light , we fonna uprev it Tommorrow to find out but as it sits right now we gonna expect the worst and assume its head gasket.

A headgasket at such low boost I would doubt that. I really hope its not that, what color is the smoke out the exhaust ?

O&G 04-14-2012 11:30 PM

compression test? Doubt it's the headgasket
