So summer is here and many more cars joined the twin turbo club thanks to FI and BP.
whats your opinion on your tires? Which tires you're using? I'll start, Im still using Bridestone RE11, they are really good after warm up. |

I have personally run:
305/30/19 PSS 305/30/19 RE-11 305/35/19 RE05R Drag Radials In my honest opinion, the RE-11, absolutely destroys the PSS in every single way, outside of treadwear. The re-11 will become very sticky with some heat to it and will grab very very well for a summer performance tire. The PSS does not do this, but right out of the gate, the two are on very similar levels. At my power levels, both are going to be useless in first 2nd and most of third, but the re11 fared MUCH better. The NITTO DR is amazing. The compound is the same found on an r888, but obviously on a slick-style drag radial. The taller sidewall really changes things and gives me much more to work with in third. Without getting into track times and **** measuring, these tires have shed plenty off time off my quarters and have me just about in the 10s...which is still sad for a 3300lb, 620/550 monster, but it is what it is, for comparison sakes, i can BARELY manage 11s on the re-11s...and I mean once in 10 tries. I DD the NT05Rs and they wear really well, plenty of tread left on them. Of course, with any DR, when it rains, I can go like 45 MAX before things get squirrely back there. That being said, I do believe I need to go wider. I am going with some r888s in 325 width. I really want to hit some easy money 10s in this car, with my horrible as hell shifting, but don't want to cheese it(i want times with tires that I drive on..just me). I am doing r888s due to the similar compound, better all-around performance and the sizing is ideal. 325s will work with my camber specs, but I am also getting custom forged wheels to make it all happen. Not to mention they look simply amazing. TL R RE11 for a summer tire, hands down. PSS is great, but you can find amazing deal on re11s, and have a much better time launching the car, if you are into that thing! I was truly shocked at how capable they are and never have bought a set of PSS for any of my cars after i got them on the Z.Also, check out DJTODDs time attack vids, I believe he was running re11s? They seme to fair pretty well if you ask me! In the end, they all work, this is just my experience. Your roads, conditions, car setup, driving styel...etc are the ultimate factors to consider. Since you are in dubai, from my experiece, sand will stick like a bitch on some re-11s and not so much on the PSS..for example. Happy boosting my friend! |

I class the R888 as an R-Spec whilst the others (Dunlop ZII, RS3 and AD08R) are super performance road tyres
If we are talking R-Specs, there are a heap more to consider: Yokohama A050 ... these are superior to A048 and AD08R Dunlop DZ03G BridgeRock RE55S and RE11S (beware, there is also a premium summer Bridgestone RE-11 and it is not the same tyre as the RE-11S R-Spec Then there are the Continental and BFG R-specs - we don't get them here in OZ, but they are available in the US You can also look to the Michelin Pilot "Sport Cup" .... |

Speaking of R888 class,
I might give the all new Michelin pilot super cup 2 a try. Quote:

i have 18x12 rears and thinking about putting a 335/30/18 in the back. however, the tire will be shorter than stock size by about half an inch, you guys think this will be an issue? looking at r888 or the g force rival.
im lowered about 1.25 inches, but gonna raise it about .5 inches and want to dial the rear camber to about -1, or possibly closer to 0 if possible... not boosted yet, still waiting for F.I. to ship me the kit... |

Several years ago I put a 25.5" front tire on (compared to stock 26.7"), with a rear 26.3 (compared to stock 26.5"). For only a moment, the VDC system was activating while trying to drive straight and the car would barely drive, then after a block or two everything was back to normal. Maybe I turned the car off and back on I dont remember. But either way, that was it. |

I just picked up some Nitto NT05's for my G37 IPL with stock IPL 19's
245/40-19 front 275/35-19 back Theses are the first set of replacement tires since the stock Potenza's. I'm pushing just under 600whp and 500trq. The tires grip better for sure on dry pavement, but I still spin into 3rd gear for sure. The tires fill out the wheel wells better and have a sick tread pattern! Road noise is slightly higher. I notice the tires now, where before I jest heard my exhaust. And by the way I am at stock ride height.

I know this thread is for tires but I made the swap to an auto 350z vlsd pumpkin (with a 3.3 fd) and it made a huge difference. I'm gtm sc 1.5 and hitting it from 40mph in 2nd it still spins a but is controllable, and 3rd is no problem. And I run 295 Mich PSS's on the rear btw
