You are hereby obligated to provide audio clips, video clips, 0-60's, etc to everyone, or we shall remove your big toes as punishment and we will spoon feed them to that bangin turbo you got there.

fuct 05-10-2011 09:19 AM

all of this is exciting! amazing fab work, but like everyone else id be concerned with the hot side of the turbo behind the radiator and up against the front of the engine. can both items take prolonged heat with no adverse effect?

I'm not worried about the heat. I'm going to pick up the stock parts that came off the car today and will be putting a turbo blanket on. I'm more worried about the tuning...we shall see. 4pm Thursday is my D-day.

If all goes well I should be starting my car for the first time about that time on Thursday.

Good luck.

98intrigue 05-10-2011 05:58 PM

I just picked up all the leftover parts...and heard my car start!

JB-370z 05-10-2011 06:38 PM

Yeah I think the heat can be managed in numerous different ways. I would be worried about placement of MAF sensors and the tuning. If all goes well these guys might want to think about putting this bad boy into production for the masses. Good job

Ready for Dyno sheets. How much boost are you going to be running again?

We're going go run a 5.7psi spring, but I have an electronic boost controller to raise it up. All depending on the tune, maybe have a 10-12psi map. I'm looking for around 530-550whp on high boost.

She's done, ready for tuning tomorrow!

Thank you everyone for your comments along the way, this has been a great project for me that definitely tested my abilities! Looking forward to the results from tuning tomorrow and what Ryan does with the car from here on! Anyone that gets to see the car in person around town or at Zdays coming up here soon, please let me know what you think when you see it first hand!

Very nice! Looking forward to some vids!!

esfourteen 05-11-2011 12:04 PM

excellent work Shawn, came out amazing. Good luck with the tuning Ryan, can't wait to see results!

NYBladeZ 05-11-2011 12:10 PM

What are the chances of the shop mass producing the kit? Even if its a one off it looks great man, will make some serious mid to top end power for sure, 12psi seems a little high to me on stock Z internals. Damn you Nissan, you give us a great motor, high compress, but cast internals, why couldn't you have copied the S2K and given us forged internals, I'd sleep much better with boost.

Kastley85891 05-11-2011 12:15 PM

That is awesome work and to get to that so quickly to, amazes me

nynhex 05-11-2011 12:29 PM

Totally gorgeous! Can't wait to see it on the dyno.. and on the street!

Kirkster 05-11-2011 12:52 PM

That is very very nice work, can't wait to see it at ZdayZ. My install should be wrapped up friday or saturday at the latest so I will also be FI for ZdayZ, we just have to hope for some dry weather.

Econ 05-11-2011 12:52 PM

ugh all this makes me want to go FI so bad.

dunno about the pistons but i know the rods aren't and the crank is forged. i think manufacturers put weaker rods in on purpose since if the rod is starting to go you will start hearing noises and shut down the engine before permanent damage is done. 12psi from a single turbo is what Momentum's kit pushes into a stock VQ35DE block that they consider a "safe" level. it really depends on your tuning, amount of knock, how you drive it, etc. good luck ryan! this looks awesome! can't wait to see it in person!!

Nitrouz 05-11-2011 08:04 PM

sigh...I have to play catch-up again......lol well done!
