Had some bad thunderstorms this afternoon and we lost power at 2pm, at 4 and no sign of it coming back I gave up and left so didn't go too much further. Hopefully finish up most everything on Monday, a few small touches Tuesday and to tuning either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday!

Some more pictures!

Dam! That's a huge intake piping. About the same size as my tractor lol

christian370z 05-06-2011 06:36 PM

Again, incredible fab/welding skills! In terms of MAF placement, is the goal to get them both equally distanced from the throttle bodies?

W.O.W. 370Z 05-06-2011 08:04 PM

Might have to take a trip to Central Florida!

esfourteen 05-06-2011 08:15 PM

yeah thats some amazing stuff, I know who to call if I'm looking for a custom build on any future car now

Everything looks great! I sent you a PM A4RingedONE8T.

I thought all of the boosted setups were blowthru...........

DON_Apollo 05-07-2011 03:44 AM

I wanna know how its going to sound with the headers that different in lenghts from one another.......if you dont know that mostly has to do with the sound of the subbys..........interested in the exhaust note!!!!!!!!!!! VIDEOOOSSS!!!

PS: i know ppl are going to say oh no ithe subarus sound like that because its a horizontally opposed engine......and no....it doesnt.......you can put equal lenth headers on a STI and it will sound pretty damn close to a CIVIC

Unaware, interested how the ECU interprits MAF V with this setup.

URNEXT! 05-07-2011 02:09 PM

Plus one rep for a great build

Red__Zed 05-07-2011 02:43 PM

Wow, that's quite a tight fit. I think it would be extremely difficult to mass-produce a setup like this, simply due to the clearances.

Interesting piping to the intakes though.

RCZ 05-07-2011 05:29 PM

nice welds :)

I would assume so, but thats a question for the tuners...

I bought a GoPro HD, so there will be plenty of videos :)

Very tight fit! Other than the fact that Shawn prides himself in custom one-off builds, I believe another culprit to not mass producing anything is due to fitment issues.

And for the intake piping, it looks beautiful in person. Ideally, you'd want equal sized piping in equal lengths to come into a y-pipe and one pipe go into the intercooler, but Shawn had to work his magic with the little room in our engine bays. Based on his logic, with the different sized piping and different paths, it seems like it should be pretty even.

roplusbee 05-07-2011 08:38 PM

That's wassup. I am very interested in the final outcome even though I am already GTM TT bound. In for mor eupdates and hopefully some vidz...........woohoo!

 I haven't heard an open dump since July 2010...it's been way too long!

Kastley85891 05-07-2011 09:02 PM

I hear ya man, my last open gate was a 20G on E85 with an 18psi spring, I was on 24psi by 3400 rpm.... ya , noisy lol, 38mm so like a screaming banshee..

Urs will be awesome with a 6cyl feed to the Tial

SPOHN 05-07-2011 09:03 PM

Open dump is a beautiful thing.

In case I missed it somewhere, is this going to be a single exhaust or are you going to mod an exhaust to make it dual? I had modded up a dual for my Turbonetics kit. The only thing I didn't like it about it was how quiet it was. I know a turbo quiets it down some but it wasn't to my likings. Not sure if it had something to do with the single design exhaust pipe or how it went from single to dual.

Here's some pics.

I had my HKS exhaust modified on my G35 to fit the Turbonetics kit. Shawn will well be modifying the H-pipe on my current HKS exhaust to fit the single downpipe.

I'd love a full 3" single, but I just think it looks goofy with 2 exhaust openings. The 350s could pull it off with a bumper tuck, but that's not possible with the 370.

Yea, it doesn't look as good as it would on a Supra. But it will work. Good conversation piece.

I believe I remember your car from my350. Didn't you used to hang out with a guy named Taurren or something? Can't remember the spelling. Or was it Ron and that group?

Yeah, I hung out Craig (Tuarren) and Ron...the central FL crew. The last time I went to ZDayz was actually with them back in '07. I'm trying to convince Craig to come this year with his E55.

I used to work at Performance Factory back in the day when they were a pretty popular shop before the owner started doing shady business...so I knew a lot of the Z/G crowd.

Single 3"? Ryan ... If we ever do you a single it will be 4"!! And any rear can be modified for single, even my M which comes with quad tips!

Is that custom? Kinda looks like an Apexi Super GT. I had one on my S13 Fastback. I believe it was a 4.5" exit/tip. Can't remember how large the piping internal diameter was, but it was pretty big. I was always worried about busting it up on the roads in Naples, IT...........

My complete turbo setup was custom fabbed by me. Exhaust is 3" downpipe (all that would clear the back runner of my exhaust manifold), tapers to 4" next to the gearbox and is 4" all the way back. Muffler is Vibrant 4" inlet/4" outlet

roplusbee 05-08-2011 02:58 PM

Ahh. That's wassup. Awesome work by the way............

I would be concerned about that passenger side MAF. Having it in the middle of a bend(and directly after that Y split) like that is going to leave you with some uneven and turbulent airflow. It's best to have a few inches of straight pipe before and after the MAF to ensure laminar flow across them. I hope it works out for you, but if you run into issues with the tunability of this setup, I would recommend finding a way to straighten those MAF tubes. ECU/MAF can be picky sometimes.

Aside from that the construction looks top notch.

JB-370z 05-09-2011 10:08 PM

Looks flat out amazing! I am just wondering how yall are going to manage the dump pipes in the front. Are yall going to fab up a custom under carriage for the dump to let out its gases? I think the tuning is going to be a fun time, but Im sure it will be for the best and we will see some power! :happydance::driving:

Nixlimited 05-09-2011 11:12 PM

Impressive build. My only concern is the placement of the turbo that close to the radiator and what appears to be a plastic shroud and such. Either way, looking forward to seeing some tuning results.
