vented hood might help. royal purple ice in the radiator may help or a water cooled manifold would proly help to and meth injection would help when in boost.

OK......maybe I missed it, but what hood are you talking about? I am actually looking to go with a vented hood, so maybe this is something that would be worth my wild..............lemme know please.

Rob

Im working with a company now, to produce a new vented hood. come on over to the popped thread in Prems and you can get a sneak peak at the design..

roplusbee 07-18-2011 06:47 AM

Roger that. Thanks.....

theDreamer 07-18-2011 09:56 AM

There is not a large amount of room but I still think he could fit a bigger radiator without to much issue.
I have the CSF radiator and have been keeping logs before & after and hope to have a review up soon.

This is my anniversary. the red underneath is a removable bottom. Without that on it it still looks awsome and it cools like a dream. With this hood and a oil cooler in new orleans wheres its hot and humid my temps are running 175.

Ok guys...talk me out of it...but I think I'm calling tomorrow and telling them to put my car back to stock. I don't want to deal with this anymore.

No more turbo ?

Ron 07-18-2011 02:06 PM

Sell the kit and get a GTM TT? I am sure someone would be willing to take on the challenge and make it work.

LafitteZ 07-18-2011 02:16 PM

Thats why theres companys who actually know what the hell there doing that build these kits. It takes a tremendous amount of trial and error to get it right. Plus they have a basis to work with because they know how this stuff works inside and out. My advise is that they dont know wtf there doing mabe find someone who does. Theres a million ways to keep the temps low if thats the only problem. It sounds like the car tune could be messed up that would be a reason for it running hot at idle. like I said try royal purple ice in the radiator and mabe bring it to a reputable tuner. some of these places who tune american cars and civics think they can tune zs and um no they cant.

LafitteZ 07-18-2011 02:19 PM

I think the problem is so small it just needs to be pin pointed. You came this far youll be alright. my 350 z was out 6 months because when they installed the injectors they left the old orings in and so the new ones had there own on it so it was double oringed and they could never tune it cuz they were leaking. So i know ur pain.

I would give it one more try. You have invested a lot of time and energy to make this work.... See if you can get a new radiator (like the CSF... I think Z1 can hook you up), and maybe some additional air flow ducts (like cutouts in the upper part of the bumper/hood). At that point, if you are still having issues, then think about bailing. Also, do you have a thermal blanket on the turbo? That may help.

LafitteZ 07-18-2011 03:49 PM

Jran76. thats a fantastic idea. Then buy thermo wrap for all the exaust piping. If its overheating if at idle to long i really dont think its the turbo doing it. Its gotta be something else.

LafitteZ 07-18-2011 03:52 PM

b1adesofcha0s, thanks for the compliment.

G37sHKS 07-18-2011 06:33 PM

Can you send the car to Sam and let him check the errors for you?

don't you dare do it, else I will fly down to you, and slap you silly!!!

serious.. don't do it..

you have come to far...

98intrigue 07-20-2011 12:53 PM

So I went to happy Monday and drank a lot and talked about what to do with the car. Going into Happy Hour, I was pretty set on parting it out. I drank much more than anticipated and never came up with a decision. Tuesday, I made up my mind I'm sticking to it.

Lutz can't find the wiring diagram for the MAF sensors, so that's delaying them bridging the MAFs together. My exhaust build starts Monday. I'll look into the CSF radiator, but I'm not sure if there's room. Downpipe is where the OEM fans were and now the Flexalite fans are in front of the radiator...not sure if the extra 15mm of the CSF radiattor will fit :/

Also, I'm still looking into the VIS AMS hood, even though I don't prefer CF. I have a nice quality turbo blanket on the turbo and the downpipe/uppipe is fulling wrapped in DEI heatwrap.

Hopefully, my car will be ready for Cars and Coffee next Saturday. I haven't driven it in 22 days.

Glad to hear you're sticking with it. I hope all the issues are resolved soon so you can actually enjoy the car and finally beat me in the 1/4 mile :rofl2:

theDreamer 07-20-2011 01:03 PM

98, I will try to get an answer on the radiator fitment compared to stock. I know it bolts up exactly to stock points & connections, but not sure if it pushes front/back or both.

Jamaica 07-20-2011 01:05 PM

I wishing you the best

175* is too cool.

LafitteZ 07-20-2011 01:48 PM

its being twin turboed in two weeks red. It doesnt stay at 175 it goes up and down no more than 190 tho.

Those numbers in the upper diagram (67,68,77) are the corresponding pins on the ECU harness

What do you mean about bridging them? Are you going to try to copy the signal from one MAF into the ECU inputs for both banks? So only one of the MAFs will really be used?

Exactly. Since there is no way to equalize the MAF readings as is with the intake piping, we hope to have the ECU read the signal from one bank and have it replicate to the other signal. Thank you so much for the diagram! Repped:tup:

Different kinds of risky. Bridging is a hack.

LafitteZ 07-20-2011 04:19 PM

i say if you could just get your hands on one of the stillin manifolds. I bet that would make your life much easier. just find someone with a stillen setup and ask them if you can use there cerial number to order a new manifold because theres broke.

I've tried that. I contacted Stillen directly and had 3 other shops contact them. Stillen won't sell me one :(

Maybe get someone with a Stillen set up to order one for you and you can give them the money for it?

Jamaica 07-20-2011 08:48 PM

maybe they only sell to vendors?

Ryan
I could always give it a try 2tm if you like.

Wait are you asking for info on the radiator? Ive had it for months now with no issues. Fits in there great

Andrew is goign to see if he can get me a manifold. But I am curious about the radiator... my fans have been moved to the front of the radiator and my downpipe is behind the radiator. I'm just worried the CSF radiator wouldn't fit in between all the clutter.
