You should be easily able to push 10-11 psi and keep a safe margin.

That guy didn't ingest the details of your post. If he did he would've recognized you were tuned by one of the best in the world via remote. Knowing that he would understand that Seb tunes with the interest of safety of the engine and longevity as well as optimal power for what you're working with.
Seb absolutely won't push the limits if he's not hands on with your car on the dyno.......I've tried.

Seb won't, even if it's in his hands unless you really push him to do it.

Lol!! Tell me about it. I've tried all kinds of Jedi tricks and Seb shut me down with logic. The tune may be soft but you know it's safe. And "Soft" is a matter of perspective between people who give a crap and people with 20k in reserve and a builder and block on standby.

Exactly. He explained it real simple for me. Is an extra 30whp worth needing a new motor.

Maybe, no idea. I make about the same. About 500 bhp at 6psi but that was about the highest before knock would occur at high rpm. Jez at Horsham Development tunes safe and knows a bit about turbo 350Z’s too. My 370Z AAM TT was the first though.
I do realise that our bhp and US whp are about the same. Power is good. I’m just puzzled by the high boost

He probably pulled a bunch of timing. I’m running 11.5-12lbs with the output most get from 9ish. We had to do that to limit the torque it was making. I wanted to keep it under 450wtq and it was a torque making monster.

First pulls were 500/480. We finally got it dialed ‘down’ to 510/440.

Hmm, i already make 435 tq with my tune at around 3700rpm. But at this point boost is up to 8psi instead of mentioned 6psi (at peak power). Hence, i’d acrually not want any more boost anyway, right?

I’m not familiar with tour setup, so I can’t say. I have a BP single kit, which a single makes torque for days. I also have the P6266 turbo and not the new oil less turbo. A TT is a little easier to dial the torque in. Key is to find a good tuner and tell him exactly what you are looking for in your tune. If you trust him, which you should if he is tuning a $15-20 turbo build, then let him work it out and don’t worry about how much boost you are running.

Yeap, more timing creates more cylinder pressure and more TQ.

And heat, can't forget heat. That's when the machine starts to get weak and everything starts to fall backwards like a runaway nuke meltdown.

It is where you place the heat. Less timing, the EGT's are going through the roof and the heat in the turbo is more. More timing, the heat is in the cylinder with more cylinder pressure. It is a trade off and a fine line to walk.
