hahaha we are hoping to rip a 220+ standing mile! I think I may need to have a new tach made lol at the end it will say PLAID... I will also have an indicator light at 88mph that says 1984 too.

We will see I got a lot of stuff about to go down that may include new parts being designed to widen fenders and new hood designs too...

NYBladeZ 07-21-2010 02:32 PM

Widen the rear fenders? Damn dude you're talking about some major cutting, I wouldn't do it you can (if you haven't already) throw 12in tires on the rears. Anything bigger and it'll be really hard to go tire shopping, destroying the "daily driver" aspect of it.

theDreamer 07-21-2010 02:33 PM

I thought you were getting the Zele kit?

bullitt5897 07-21-2010 02:51 PM

I am getting the Zele kit. These are just going to be wider fenders for the front for sure the rear is a maybe. Also, there is a possibility of a new hood design.

Need to take that beast to the salt flats one day?

This guy built his 370Z earlier this year: Nissan 370Z Forum - View Profile: soaka1

So that settles that.

bullitt5897 07-23-2010 08:43 PM

Cool, good find! I wish he was a more active member...

LiquidZ 07-23-2010 08:47 PM

Yum, Carrillo. My dream setup would be Carrillo rods and Wiseco pistons.

LunaZ 07-23-2010 09:01 PM

Subbed!

SkyZ 07-24-2010 05:57 PM

yep subbed

Windex_ 07-25-2010 09:29 PM

What you should really try to get out of this whole build more so than a 220mph standing mile. "The GT-R's "high-speed driving test"-the front passengers enjoying an easy conversation without raised voices at 186 mph". You should figure out how to do that at 220 ;)

bullitt5897 07-26-2010 07:09 AM

Hahaha the wind noise alone would make you have to raise your voice lmao. Good Idea though lol I just don't think it's gonna be a long convo at 220+ hehe

Bullitt I got a question. Thus far no one has been able to crack the VVEL tuning. What are you guys using for engine management? Do you think you'll be the first to crack VVEL?

Bladez,

We are using F-con for management. As far as cracking the vvel that is a question for sam...

What makes this so hard to crack. Mike maybe you can explain to me how this all works. I know there is a seperate timing for for the valves, Is that the issue tunners are having? What would be the benefit if you do crack it.
Frank

NYBladeZ 07-27-2010 03:36 PM

It seems that the ECU keeps kicking back to stock timing settings. Of course tuners are stating that the settings are "so perfect" that changing them effects many other variable and thus can't be done safely. Personally, sounds like they don't want to put in the time. However, Smokey from Top Secret has the time and I believe we rewrote it from the code, but they are still developing their TT kit. All in all, first one who properly tunes timing is going to be making $$$.

This is the last response I got from Uprev, fairly clear on what they want, and hopefully in time we will see companies picking up this engine and help the process along.

It's something we'd like to do, but the reality is that no one wants to assume the liability. It's not like a typical motor set up where if you break a valve, or a rocker arm wears you just go buy that part and rebuild.

The VVEL is only available from Nissan. Nissan will only sell the matched pair of heads as a complete unit. Approximate cost is $10k, thats just the heads, no other parts.

From what we see on the earlier motors the cam phasing alone is just about perfect from the factory. You can adjust them all day and you gain 1-2hp. With the VVEL we have no less of an expectation. So realistically no one is moving forward on the development of the software because the potential gains will be very small, and the liability is huge. Also there are exactly ZERO hardware pieces in development in the aftermarket. So no replacement pieces or items that would require a change in the tuning itself.

If these factors change we'll push forward with VVEL tuning, as with everything else in the Nissan tuning market we'll be the people that develop the technology and the other manufacturers will simply copy our work.

That statement from them is very true, but there will be gains to be had for the turbocharged Z community. Spool up, primarily.

Update my wheels arrived at GTM!!! Finished the paperwork and should have new Yokohama sponsored tires in too :-)

It's kinda like an avalanche once you get a few they all start to fall in place... It also helps to have a cover shoot and a SEMA booth in Vegas this year

:rofl2: I just got it today from a member over at NAGTROC. Next up is the plenum, but there's no hurry since I probably won't pull the FI trigger until sometime late next year.

Much thanks to your project, I'm hoping GTM will make the hardware to get the Stage 1 TT kit working with the VR38 plenum available. Black powder coated intake tubes please! :excited:

No polished to match pipes :happydance:

bullitt5897 07-29-2010 07:24 PM

Haha he should get his gtr mani PC'd the same color as his intake pipes! ;)

DIGItonium 07-30-2010 08:02 AM

Haha, good point. I'm not after the bling factor for this project, but more of a stockish look and plain black intake pipes. I messaged another member in the NAGTROC forum for parts. He has a couple of VR38 engines sitting around, so I'm going to try to get the intake collector from him.

Mike, do you know if this project involves swapping for the VR38 lower intake manifold?

bullitt5897 07-30-2010 08:05 AM

Not sure but I don't think so... We need to ask Sam!

Please let me know when you find out from Sam, so I know what else I can get from the VR38 engine. Hopefully you can get some more pictures of your build in progress. Thanks!

FuszNissan 08-02-2010 12:32 PM

Is this done yet?....:stirthepot:

SPOHN 08-02-2010 12:48 PM

I think there holding out to drop the 1000hp thread at once. Then that will free up time for Sam to answer the hundred of questions to come.

KaienZ34 08-02-2010 02:28 PM

Can't wait it'll be kicka$$...
