Can you take this car on the gumball3000?

If I were mike I'd drive the STI everyday, then drive the Z on the weekends or to car shows ;) |

JB you missed the winky face in his post

Well besides winning most shows, maybe after all the work involved he would want to baby it. Driving a 1000hp super Z like his is not like driving a regular 370z. I would think a car like that would lose some of it's daily driver capabilities & Mike may not want to drive something soo intense everyday, hence the STI.
|
Yeah I also don't want to throw a shiit load of miles on the z as I want to sell the car too. I have another z project and need a demo car for UA motorsports here on the east coast. So if you guys see the Z up for sale you will know why. The car will be driven a few times a week or whenever my gf wants to drive my Sti lol

how fast you guys think it could be in a 1/4 ?
|
Seeing how an 05 APS 350ztt can do it in 11.6, I'm guessing with the right driver/conditions 10.6-11.0 1/4 mile. Source: 2005 Nissan 350Z Extreme APS TT 1/4 mile Drag Racing timeslip specs 0-60 - DragTimes.com

Mike would need slicks to even get into the 11's with this much power in my opinion, but I'm sure the car would be able to run in the 10's with decent traction and progressive boost maps.

Dont understand

Sell the white dragon? I personally couldn't do it. I also think that I'd drive it as much as I could, even if I had to dial down the power. Think about it, you buy a car you spend a long time building it, which I understand since it has been so beneficial to the greater Z community and thank you for that, and then you want to sell it. Where in that series of events do you get to enjoy the pleasure and sheer lunacy of your hard work?
|

I wouldn't be able to sell it if it was me, unless there was some kind of emergency situation which required me to do so. |
Trust me there will be plenty of time for me to enjoy the Z. Plus I will be buying another ;) Z. One with all UAM parts on it and Forced induction. I don't expect my car to sell quickly not for the price tag I will be putting on it. Plus it will be at several shows including Sema!
|
Mike you putting on those super hot UAM fenders?
|
I can understand building a car for the sake of creating something. Seeing it come to life and working on it is better than actually driving a car sometimes. Essentially taking something you love and turning it into reality. I feel ya and I think 90% of the folks in here do so as well so good luck with it.
|
Thanks for the support guys! I really appreciate it. RCZ hit it on the head! This was more of can it be done as well as getting the name out and building a dream car. I will have to say when the car is completely finished there will be around $200k+ put into this project...
|
Quote:
So around what price range will you be selling it for? |
probably the $120-$140k range... whoever buys it will be getting a deal. Sam has said he wont touch another build like this for anything less than $100k (and thats just the power adding aspect of the build)

Be sure to set the 1/4 mile record for the 370Z first  |
FWIW, this is the second $100k+ 370Z that has gone through the boards and last I heard that one was struggling to sell for 50k. Granted its a race car, but there's a very small market for cars like these. I think the best thing to do is try and get money back through product promotions, shows and other stuff.
|
what was the first one? i don't remember another 100k+ Z being built.

oh. but that one was like...out and out track.
this one is...uhm...out... er...:icon14: like RCZ said - going to be a VERY tough market at that price. doesn't matter how many times you chant 'someone is getting a good deal', nobody will buy a car for 120k+ unless it was a supercar, much less a nissan. still - good luck? it will be nice to see the completed build soon. |

-No way your z has $200k in it.... If it does, Sam made a killing.... |
Reality,
I know I wont be able to recoup on all the money spent on this project. I am also not the only one invested into this project... Sam has invested into it, Zele has invested into it, I have, SPC, VIBE Audio, Cobra Racing, Ride Tech, PLX Fabrication, Strasse Forged, UA Motorsports, Falken Tire and Etc... My wheels cost around $7k, Zele Bodykit is about $5k, (New-custom) Ride Tech Air Ride $7k and Etc... this stuff adds up REALLY QUICK! You also have to account for labor to have this work done... Many people look at the part list and say well that doesnt = $200k of course not... Like I said NO ONE will be able to touch this build for less than $200k!!! Think about how many hours and shops along with Custom work that has been done to the car so far and has yet to be finished... I have a full account of everything accept for the final account of GTM parts and the list is really LONG and EXPENSIVE!!!! |
^ ...what's your point?
hurry up and show the completed car already! lol |
and here i am trying to save for an exhaust or coilovers..... :\ sigh
|
I had $200k in my 350z as well. Plus in pretty much any performance mag you can name, and some internet ones like the cover of jtuned, and speedhunters, etc. This was also after the car has been proven reliable as I beat the crap out of it almost everyday on the street, and daily drive to work, grocery shopping, etc. (I'm spending that much on a CAR so it better be used as a CAR.)
At the peak of its fame, I sold it for $60k. Just to put it into perspective. Yes I sold it quickly, and to one of my best friends so I didn't care much about the pricing, but I don't think it would have fetched much more than that going into the brand new GTR pricing territory. You'd be surprised how much a "warranty" is worth to people, despite how detailed and well you had built your car. My buddy is still daily driving the car to this day, 2.5 years of ownership later, and still swings the tail out in 4th gear on command on a dry hot summer day. Good luck either way though. No doubt this is a top quality build as well. |
I couldn't imagine spending 200k on a Z. Even though it's tits & it's really fast, I rather buy a supercar, Zr1, GTR, Audi R8, etc...
|

Or a house. That's just a personal preference, its pretty cool to see someone else do it though  |
200k won't buy you a house in california anymore :rofl2:

You could get a decent house for 200k here in florida and have money to spare for a Z ;)
