Remember the options are endless lol it can range anywhere from a $16k build all the way to $45k+ build like mine! So look at your budget and your goals. Don't forget about creature comforts and sound levels. Also, you will need gauges and supporting mods such as exhausts and clutch upgrades...

I picked turbo over supercharger just because I have had turbo on my last car and I loved it. HKS powered RSX-S. I have had friends in the past go with superchargers for their cars and than later regreted it cause it was not enough power, or they still had the good old "Turbo Dreams". My car will be a garage queen at some point next year so I might as well give her the best. And come on guy's, at the end of the day after all has been said and done, nothing compares the sound of the blow off valves going off .

Down the road I would like to get in the 700whp club but for now I will be fine with the stage 2 turbos and about 500whp maybe 450whp to be super safe. This will be a 100% street car, I might take it to the d-strip just to get a 1/4 mile time but thats about it. If you are looking for a daily driver, this kit can be just as reliable as a supercharger kit "IF IT IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY" I think Sam can fill you in on this area of the matter.

Like bullitt said, your car is going to be much louder. For me thats a good thing, I want the car to sound mean as hell. These are Garrett turbos made by a company called Honeywell. They are water cooled not oil cooled so there is no worries about adding more heat to the already hot oil our car makes. The Garrett turbos have ball-bareings not bushings so they do not have to be pulled out and rebuilt like the ones in the Greddy kit.

15k-16k is the starting price to get one of these in the car with installation and maybe a few add on parts. But if you are an all-star mech. you can install it your self and save thousands. Then we go back to the install being the most important part to relieability of this kit and of course the tune but with the GTM kit this is already inclueded.

All in all you have to pay to play this game. In my personal opinion turbo is the best if money is not and issue. Dont buy a turbo kit if you cannot get a good installer to perform the install. I will not get into this, I think we all know what could happen with a bad installed kit.

I ran a turbo kit on my Acura RSX-S for over 2 1/2 years with over 60k miles on the kit. I had a waste gate leak, exhaust leak and the need for a slight retune over the time of 2 1/2 years. One of my friends on clubrsx.com bought it from me and its still running good. The total cost to fix was under $1000, did not take anytime to fix the leaks, just took a while to find them . I would say not too bad for the amount of miles put on the car.

*******The install is important. Turbo is the $hit -The End-

RCZ: If this comment was to me, than yes I will crank the boost up but not until I get the motor rebuilt. By this time the car will be a garage queen. I dont plan on changing the bore I want to keep it at 3.7. The first thing I will get when I get the car back is a HKS suspension, then a new clutch but I am still searching for a clutch that I will like. Dont want the clutch pedal to be too tough to push down, and I dont want tons of chatter. I think I could get a "good" 6 months out of the stock clutch but I will have a new one by then. Sam said one guy got 11 months on the stock clutch paired with a set of their turbos.

Thanks for the info-

So would you say the differences you picked out for your car from stormcrows is that you may be looking down the road for more power?
As for what I want to do- I dont care about noise, I mean, it is sorta a plus in my mind and I have a regular daily driver (a honda fit- how is that for contrast) so if I need quiet, I have another option. As for hp goals, I will be happy w/ 450-500 hp w/ no plans to get more. Wont be tracking the car, just take it out on the weekend for fun w/ my car friends.

This thread and stormcrows really helping me out a lot.

Thanks

Yep it was for you. If you are searching for a clutch you might want to keep an eye on my journal. My friend is installing mine as we speak. It has got a bunch of great reviews as far as feel such as this one:

Quote:
It's a full face clutch rated for 740 foot pounds! Comes with the standard alignment tool, clutch disk, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. The disk itself is manufactured by Exedy (Exedy was chisled in the center piece). Also, it's a spring-loaded disk.

I've had it on for a few weeks, and the engagement is AWESOME. DEFINITELY slippable, and muuuuuch easier on the leg as far as clamping force compared to an ACT 6 puck clutch that I roasted some time ago.

So far, I havent' clutch dumped, and don't plan on it anytime soon. But even from slipping it, I've still managed to spin the tires some, and that time was not a serious launch either. This is definitely daily-driver friendly. No issues at all. Granted, it's not as light as a stock one, but then again, you don't need to use your hip to depress the clutch either.

I'd recommend this to anyone, even BPU guys although that is probably overkill a bit! Haha... but really, this clutch is great so far... I'm DEFINITELY happy with the product... so far.
So as you can see...it can hold a good amount of tq too which should be ok for you (for now at least). Let me know if you are interested since I can get a good deal for fellow Z owners. Same goes to anyone else looking to get a clutch.

I think both options will suit your needs. When it all comes down to it, the only way you can truly say which one you like best, is to drive em' both.

Well since that will prolly not happen you are $hit outa luck

Just joking,
Comes down to personal likes and dislikes and of course "MONEY". I would like to say that supercharger gives more liner power than turbo but it is not that way in the case of the VQ37 and Garrett. Both TT and SC are liner through-out the power band so no instant surge of power for the GTM TT kit. Toyota Supra's are well known for massive spikes in power, which some say is uncontrolable. This will not be a problem with either kit.

Many say turbo is not as reliable as supercharger but I think it can be just as reliable as a supercharger, if installed and tuned right, and maintained right. In a turbo setup there are more parts and most important; more moving parts, soo....using a little statisical math will tell you there is a overall higher chance of failure. So if the install was done flawlessly, its the parts you got to worry about doing there job at this point and the GTM TT kit uses high quality parts. And there are many sensors and gauges you can buy to monitor these parts to make sure they are doing there job.

Supercharger is sure alot cheaper though. Like a said in the other post, after all is said and done a slick set of twins in the 370z will always hold the crown in my book.
-The End-

Thanks I will look into this. My main concern is giving my leg a workout, I want to keep the drving experience "enjoyable". Also it needs to be able to handle the power when I need to unleash some horse power. I also have an issue with not wanting to have chatter, I feel chatter makes the car sound like somthing needs to be fixed. Dont want to spend more than 2k on a clutch either need to keep it somewhat cost friendly. Friend suggested a tripple plate exedy, well over the 2k mark and has the loudest chatter I have ever heard. My brother has a 911 with no chatter, whats the deal.

From what I heard its not brand specific as much as case by case with the chatter. You can install the same clutch on the same model, year, etc car and some will chatter and others wont. The exedy is an awesome choice, those things feel like stock and last forever, but like you said, the price is pretty ridiculous. From what I heard from vendors, the Southbend stage 4 is pretty good as far as pedal effort. I don't want chatter either, but that's more of a flywheel issue than anything from what I understand. Jnaut from here has a fidanza fw installed and his car chatters a little bit, but nothing bad. I think if you have exhaust, you should be alright. The Southbend is also well under $1k w/ flywheel. Like you said though, its hard to say until you actually feel it. Best I can do for you is share what mine feels like to me.

Ben -

You should read, thoroughly, my thread. I think you and I have the same goals from what you posted here. You will see that I performed my build with a specific whp level in mind as well as budget. If you plan on a weekend warrior car that can safely run 450-500whp all day long, just mimic my build. Trust me, so far the recipe is gold.
