RCZ how long did it take for you to get your SC installed. The dealer is telling me 5 days and $3400. That sounds crazy to me. Let me know

The price also includes the oil cooler and exhaust install. But I also feel sick.

thats ridiculous! I haven't installed one of these, but I did install the stillen charger on my 350Z and three Vortech supercharger kits on friends 350z/G35s in my home garage, and not one took over 12 hours. Add an hour and a half for the exhaust, and really no time for the oil cooler, since it will easily be installed while during the kit install, so 13.5 hours max.

I just asked my installer a couple days ago what he thought a fair install time would be for the kit and he said 10-12 hours. So you're paying like $260 an hour. That is assuming that the kit is the only thing you're installing.

IMHO Install rates should be closer to $1,000-$1,200 with an already relatively high $100/hr labor rate.

EDIT: With oil cooler and exhaust it should be around $1,500. I would say that's a fair, normal shop price. I'm sure if you ship your car over to Jnaut down here in West Palm Beach it would still be less than that AND you would be getting it installed by someone who has already done it. (He installed my kit and made me a custom race oil cooler). Its an option to consider, the man has skills. Shoot him a PM if you are interested. Otherwise, yeah $1500 or a bit over that.

Ok guys here is the reason for the expense.
remove fuel pump, front facial removed, uppper intake manifold removal
drive belt mods, rewired, fuel injecter replaced
transfer of parts, rerouting water line to intake
mounting super charger abd plumbing
all the rewiring and bleeding the system
They are charging 95.88 an hour X 35 hours.
WTF I told them to give me my car back. I am not paying that.
i asked if they were guesstimating the hours and he said no that they looked up how much time it would take per item in hours to install and all the labor that goes with it. I just want you all to know I a trying to get it done at Pinehurst Nissan in NC.


EDIT: The dealer is on the phone right now he called stillen and they are willing to still install it for 15 hours at 95.88 will run about 1538$ I just saved 2k for saying give me my car back.

Stillen charged me $1,485 to install supercharger, clutch and lightened flywheel: 15 hours at $99/hour.

If a dealership goes line by line to see what it takes to do this work based off the Mitchell guide for the O.E. replacement parts then yes, it will be astronomical. However, it should not take longer than 10-12 hours like others have said.

We definitely have the advantage of installing a few of these already and we install clutches and flywheels practically daily so our techs are experienced enough to knock through the installs pretty quickly and we like to offer that savings to our customer's.

Also, keep in mind that if you are getting the supercharger and your fascia is already off the car, that is the perfect time to have the oil cooler installed. The fascia is already off and ready to go so there is no point in paying an extra $100+ dollars later on for them to remove the fascia again.

This past weekend I took our black 370Z to the Virginia City Spectre 341 Hill Climb. We have to put some miles on the car for our CARB testing and we figured it would be the best time to do it. Just thought some of you would like to know that I had EXCELLENT fuel milage on that trip. I did not keep track of my fuel milage on the way there for two reasons. 1) I didn't think I could make the complete 480 mile trip on one tank and 2) Honestly, I didn't even think about it until I got 3/4 of the way there!

I was about 3/4 of the way there and I noticed that my fuel tank only had a quarter tank of gas left, so I pulled into the gas station and filled up simply because I did not know the area and I did not know how long it would be before seeing another gas station with relatively inexpensive fuel. A couple hours later (it was a 9.5 hour trip on the way there as I was following Steve in the Armada towing our race trailer most the way.) we pulled into the Silverland Inn where the race was being held. I noticed that I had only used about a quarter tank of gas. So I thought to myself, on the way home, I'm going to try to make the whole trip in one tank.

Around noon on Saturday we decided to pack up and head home. Steve had reported that the road had become slick (too hot) and he felt that he had gone as fast as he could go on the Bridgestones. We could have pushed harder with the optional Dunlops and probably picked up another 5-10 seconds but unfortunately Dunlop was out of stock so we were limited to the O.E. Bridgestones, sorry for the digression, I over explain sometimes.

Before pulling out of the Silverland Hotel I grabbed the 5 gallon jug of 91 octane fuel and poured it into the tank of the Z. We had planned on mixing the 91 with the 109 that we were running in the GT R to extend the 109 a little bit and get a few more runs but with the road going away we did not need it anymore. When I got back in the car I noticed that the fuel lights were all lit and showing that the tank was full. Obviously I don't know exactly how full it was because there is the variable of the fuel tank however I do know that from Silverland to my local Chevron is EXACTLY 480 miles. I also know that I kept the cruise control locked on 70-72 MPH the whole way (only accelerating to pass slower traffic and accidentally cruising at 80 while on the 15 freeway and keeping up with the flow of traffic before noticing my speed and slowing back down) and only stopped twice to go to the bathroom, one of those times I left the engine running (I know, I know...) Along the trip down highway 395 you go through a few small towns and have to slow down to 35 MPH to crawl through the town before accelerating back up to highway speed (posted limit of 65.) Long story short, I made the entire trip home in 8 and a half hours exactly...Left at noon on the dot and arrived at the Chevron station at 8:30. This 480 mile trip was done on a single tank of gas. When I got to the Chevron station I filled up with 17.8 gallons of fuel. So, I basically did this trip with an average of 27 MPG.

Nice, I drove to Ohio from Texas and drove well beyond 500 miles between fill ups, pretty damn impressive with the G3's, HFC's, CBE and tune!

So for those who called me out and said I was doing ricer math by saying 383 on a mustang is 430 on a dynojet. Here's my run for today. 100 degree ambient temperature and 30% Humidity.



And this is SAE. I'll see if I can get the numbers for STD...

EDIT: Just called the shop again, made 445/335 STD Made more power than advertised by Stillen w/ 35F hotter air temps.
