These latest issues reaffirm my decision to not install any forced induction kit and use a canned tune.

Cheerleader? where do I get my pom poms?? Good luck with your car man. I was just saying if you want answers, talk to them directly. So hard?

Long as he doesn't end up in a skirt im ok with this.

Back on track, what are you guys using for tuning? Is there anything open source i can use with win OS, full binary everything unlocked? My shop wants to do direct meth injection... but we need some open source. I dont mind paying for software if it allows my mechanic full access.

The last time I tried asking to see if I can get HFC and a tune for it the answer is no. We have the carb kit and it's illegal in CA. That's the answer I got lol. So I don't get how can others have HFCs and still good for carb in CA.[/QUOTE]

They are not and they dont know what they are talking about. You have to have Cats to be carb legal. The cats are the emissions control. HFC are not legal. They have to absorb and reduce so much NOX, CO, CO2 etc. you can only changed the cbe part to meet emissions.

Most shops are using Uprev (www.uprev.com) for tuning purposes.

LateralG'z 07-29-2010 09:15 AM

So my brother tried to convince me that in Washington now all cars 09 and up do not require emissions!!!!

Side note: He just drove his new EVO X up from cali with test pipes.. But he had to admit my Z was faster hahah.. Time for pre mod kill!

It seems to be extremely difficult for Tom to pick up the phone and call Stillen. Josh is such a nice guy, so pleasant, I'm so confused. :icon14:

I also find it amusing that the guy who talks quite often to Stillen (RCZ) and has a good, personal rapport with them is the guy with the least issues. There is a moral here, I leave it to the 'Dear Reader' to figure it out.

Good luck everyone! Isn't Beta Testing fun?

m4a1mustang 07-29-2010 09:22 AM

I agree that Josh is a good guy and very helpful. Really, everyone @Stillen is very helpful and kind. Wether I support their products or not they are always willing to help me when I PM them about stuff. :)

No, it's my understanding that you need the correct back pressure when using an SC setup. When you significantly change the back pressure, you need to change the tune.

This is a hot topic on this forum. I personally don't agree that you need back pressure to run an SC on any car.
